Boathouse

Very disappointing. Ordered several meals. After sometime someone came to the table to inform us that one of the meals was not available as they’d run out. Without being given menu’s we had to make an on the spot swap. The waitress took the order and left, only to return a few minutes later to say we’d owed £2.30 as the replacement meal was more expensive. Hang on, you ran out of food and made me choose something I didn’t really want, and you want me to pay a few pound more after you inconvenienced me???
Meals arrived after being insulted with an additional bill. Oh dear. The lamb cutlets still had a heart beat. I wasn’t asked how we wanted them cooked, but wow, they were so bloody they could have been extra’s on casualty. We returned them and asked if they could cook them a little longer so they weren’t bloody. This time they came back as charcoal.
We ordered vegetables for the baby. Hmmm. The cauliflower was brown and the string beans were more string than bean and looked they had been reheated several times over several days.
All in all terrible food.
I can’t say the staff were unfriendly, but they certainly weren’t customer focused.
My advice, avoid.

Great venue for our Xmas party. Food good, exceptionally witty waiter with lots of patience to cope with our rowdy party!

Really decent gastropub in Peterborough, next to the Ramada. In the summer, the views out onto the lake must be amazing. Inside, its very spacious so you don’t feel claustrophobic or too noisy.
Food-​wise, there’s a good selection on the menu, as well as a big daily special menu too. Prices are reasonable, and the food is tasty. The downside is that it seems to take a long time for the food to be made. So be prepared for a long lunch/​dinner!

this is a really nice pub near town, you can bike to it from charters along the river path which is nice and its in a pretty setting next to the river. great in the summer.

Good for after work drinks. Recently refurbished and it looks really nice but a tad pretentious. I preferred it before!

Pretty good pub/​restaurant, one of the usual big chains. Food is what you would expect, with the standard burgers, surf n turf options. Not somewhere i would go for a special meal but ok for midweek when i can’t be bothered to cook. Nice location overlooking the boating lake — sit back eating and smugly watch the rowers pant up and down! Lovely to walk your dinner off whilst walking round it though. Location wise it is about 1.5 miles out of town so not my first choice.
Service is always on the slow side as these places are generally heaving. Price wise you get what you pay for — average.
