Xpress Grill

On Lincoln Road, next to Iceland, is Xpress Grill. What hits you first, almost 500 yards away is the awesome smell of barbequed chicken. Don’t be fooled by the exterior or the interior, its the food we are interested in here. Being a bit shy of walking into places where there is seldom a woman in there (I have never seen one) my sense for trying food got the better of me — and it was a long time coming. I asked the guys «what’s good» and they suggested barbeque chicken (they must have read my mind — hehe!) So I got half — yeah — that’s right half a chicken. It comes with either rice, chips or naan, plus a bit of salad. I just had the salad and got a spicy sweet chilli sauce and a cooler cucumber mint sauce — To Go. £3.00, what a bargain. My stomach was rumbling and I couldn’t wait to get home and tuck in. Whilst at the counter I noticed a huge circular rotisserie with hot charcoal and at least 10 large spatchcock chickens being cooked… aaah now I know where that smell comes from. More of a eat and run environment, and now I have been brave enough to step in and order, as Arnie would say «I’ll be back». Getting home I was not disappointed. Tender chicken, gently seasoned, and let me say, a very generous half of chicken, my eyes are obviously bigger than my belly. I was full. Fried chicken is also available, but I need to do a more detailed scout. Like I said ignore the spartan décor, just try the food. Well worth a try.
