Located in the super-cute traditional town of Alfriston, Ye Olde Smugglers Inne is a café by-day and pub by-night. Having visited such a storybook-esque town, my friends and I were hoping to try some cream teas. Our friends had raved about this pub when they last visited. The cream tea is available from 3pm-6pm(afternoon tea time) and for only £4.50, you get two large scones, clotted cream, jam preserves and a pot of tea. I like my scones more well-done so I felt the Inne’s scones were too soft and buttery for my liking. Especially because I love piling on lots of clotted cream and jam, these scones couldn’t hold up to the condiments :\ While I prefer my tea stronger, the tea wasn’t so bad for a mild brew. Too bad the pot was too small for the three of us to share, enough for only 2 cups of tea each. But, for the price and the sizes of the scones, I wasn’t complaining. Service was helpful– they gave us more brown sugar and jam when we were running low(yes, we love our clotted cream and jam!). Lots of space inside with tea-shoppe chairs and lovely outdoor garden seating with patio. Overall, a yummy place for afternoon tea. I wish I could come back some time soon to try the pub food!

Also known as the«Market Cross» This is a great village pub with a good selection of food and drinks. Although there is just one bar there is a variety of different seating options — bar seating, proper tables if you are having a meal and even a nice inglenook fireplace to keep you warm in the winter. I have always
