very friendly pub with excelent food and drink

A great old pub which used to be a station! There are several real ales and Guinness on offer and you can sit in one of the bars inside and watch football on one of the screens, or at wooden picniic tables outside on what used to be a platform! It’s got a real countryside feel too with a large green area at the front beside the village, and the forest behind. I thought the people serving could have been friendlier and more welcoming which is why I give only 4 stars. Maybe they are with the locals but we were just passing through today.
