Avon and Somerset Police

Avon and Somerset Police sure do keep themselves busy. In recent years they have had to deal with a whole range of challenging incidents, from Muslim convert terror suspects planning to blow up the shopping centre to the grim discovery of the bones of missing teenager Melanie Hall on the side of the M5 motorway. And then there’s the festival support they stump up every summer, including the world renowned Glastonbury Festival. All in all they don’t do a bad job. In Bristol, you will often see the mounted officers out on horseback (just watch out for the horse poop on the pavements!). They’ve also got the usual crop of PCSOs (beats me why anyone would work as a copper for free mind) and the ever growing press office team to make the organisation gleam. Clearly seems to be working though, just look at my review!
