So, a Wednesday evening dinner with my bestie to sit here and have a catch up. The service was more attentive — even if the waitress did look like she was sucking on a lemon. My friend ordered the burger and I ordered the sausage and mash. I have to admit, I had food envy as her burger looked lush — so said it was really good. My sausage and mash was nice enough, but the gravy was really quite sweet which was a shame. Decent standard of sausage though. We ordered desserts, they were fair enough, although with the sticky toffee pudding there was a really small scoop of ice cream with it, so a slightly larger scoop or another small one would have made the dessert. We didn’t feel any pressure to leave our table once we had finished and paid the bill as we were still sat there talking. It’s up to a fair place to go and eat, and have a glass of vino…

Always busy on the weekends and after the £250k refit it seems to be struggling a bit. The restaurant is rarely full and unless it is the evening the bar is pretty empty. Food’s not bad, management are somewhat terse and disinterested. Outside area is nice in the evenings although it is right on Watling Street and has a bit of a slope to it in parts you want to get a decent place to sit.

Many Many nights spent here for Round Table meetings and drinks. Old fashioned pub with a good eatery and hotel.

Lovely interior, warm and spacious. With Sky Sports stuff going on and full range of food.
