I’ve tried the bagel factory in Paddington train station some time ago and was impressed by the quality of the bagels so on travelling through Reading after an overnight flight home from holiday, the Bagel factory looked a good choice for lunch, we had 40 minute wait for our next train so popping off the platform and into the main station hall area seemed the best way to break the journey. Bagel factory have a great selection of tasty bagels that they make up to your own specs, or choose from their menu. I had a toasted bagel with salt beef, cheese, rockets and tomato and gherkin which was delicious and filling. There were offers of bagels with drinks giving a small discount with orange juice or hot drink plus soup of the day and a good selection of cakes, muffins etc.

When you want a quick snack and want to avoid the high fat of the nearby Pasty shop, Bagel Factory hits the spot. It is located inside the train station, near the West side drop point. Fresh bagels in a variety of flavors with a long list of toppings. The glass case displays everything and most of it looks really fresh. The bagels I’ve had have been pretty good, considering this isn’t New York. ;-) I’ve tried the egg mayonnaise(Americans call it «egg salad») on a wheat bagel and a ham and cheese on the multi-seeded bagel and both were good. They have coffee and other beverages, but I don’t have enough hands to juggle that too. Because it’s all prepared as you order it, have a little patience because it can take a few minutes to toast the bagel and add your toppings. And if you’ve ordered a latte or cappucino, that will take a bit longer.
