This is the perfect place for a Sunday carvery. The food is great considering that it’s a chain. You basically get seated and go up to the counter where you are carve red a choice of meats. Full up your plate with as much veg and potatoes as you want, cover in a selection of gravies, sauces etc and away you go. The only going is that is such good food for the money that you have to wait about 40mins to get seated. Easter or Mother’s Day your looking at nearly 90mins.
The vegetables are all cooked to perfection and the selection is different every time you visit. So we did not have any parsnips there today and the meat was turkey, gammon or beef. Last time there was chicken and lamb and roast pork and parsnips. You are always going to get roast potatoes, peas, carrots and Yorkshire pudding though.
The place was spotless too.

Toby Cavery is amazing. They have excellent delicious comfort food that will have you coming back for more and more. While I was in UK, I visited Toby’s as much as I could and was always impressed with their food. I wish California had something similar.
I ordered the brie and broccoli parcel that came with the vegetarian carvery. The parcel was a flaky puff pastry filled with rich brie and broccoli. This dish was divine!
The vegetarian carvery had great side dishes such as creamy mashed potatoes, corn, carrots, squash, stuffing, cauliflower cheese, and wonderful gravys. The beef gravy was my favorite and accompanied my sides beautifully.
The dessert is exceptional and I highly recommend the treacle tart with bottomless custard. If I could only find puddings like this in California!

Two words Roast Dinner!
I think this pub is fab for a really cheap sunday lunch me and my friends go there regularly, its cheaper than making it at home and no washing up! the food is really good as well as good value lovely roast potatoes

I went to Toby Carvery for their £5 sunday lunch and ot was very good value for money. For £5, you get a decent helping of meat (turkey, roast) and you can help youself to all the sides you want.
The food is good and the vegetables are not over-​cooked which is great, as i hate mushy and soft cauliflowers/​broccoli. You have to pay for your drinks, which is still ok as drinks are decently priced in Toby Carvery.
The plus point is that it is situation so near to Asda and M&S that you can have your lunch and then go to your weekly food shopping directly after.

The help-​yourself carvery is excellent value and it’s great to be able to fill your plate with good quality food. The desserts are very tasty too! However on the day I visited there was no lamb available so I was a little disappointed by that.

Great place to take the family.
The kids can pile their plates high, and even go back for more if they want to.
The staff are wonderful, very helpful, and went out of their way to assist the vegetarian at the table.
The food was very nice, although the yorkshire puddings were a bit crunchy.
The portions were very generous, and nicely cooked.
There was a nice choice of desserts, and when they were brought to the table they were so big that none of us managed to finish.
Overall, it was a very pleasant place to go, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and very tasty food, all at a very reasonable price.
We will be going again soon.

Good quality roast at a good price. Nice family friendly pub and has a slight country feel about the place! Never usually have a problem getting a table and the veg is always stocked up on the veg counter. Nice outdoor area which is fenced off so safe for the kids!

Last time i went to Toby i ordered a lasagne, and everyone else ordered the roast. The waitress was very friendly and told the table when my lasagne was almost ready so we could all eat together.
The lasagne was absolutely delicious, I had trouble eating it all and I got to have all the veg i wanted too.
Toby’s proved to me that you can spend a small amount on a meal and still have a very good quality meal.

nice friendly pub/​restaurant, before 7pm good value for money, child friendly. my husband has a huge appetite and he came home happy what more can you say. sundays very busy but nice and relaxed in the week
