Toysrus usually have good deals as I bought my ps2 and nintendo woo from there at bargain prices that profesional gaming shops couldn’t beat. The toys are not bad either. In fact everything is pretty much amazing.

A beacon(along with Starbucks) of all that is unholy and slovenly about Britain today. Thank you America for exporting this tat to us. Hundreds of thousands of man-hours have been invested over the years in the US to work out how to divest you of your money — and this place is a Master Class of the marque. I strongly advise that you don’t visit this huge warehouse of toys with a child. I’d also point out that most of it can be bought online a lot cheaper and with a lot less hassle.

Beware! I recently purchased a toy from the reading store which upon getting home I realised was the wrong age range for my daughter. The box was damaged when I purhased the item(of which I thought nothing to) and I had also opened the box, which I resealed before taking the toy back to the store two days later. The toy had not been assembled or used as the toy was for 6 – 12 months and my daughter was only 3 months. At the customer services counter, I was told that the store would not be prepared to refund my money(£65) or provide a credit for me to exchange the goods as the box had been damaged and therefore they could not sell the item as new. I explained that the box was already damaged when I purchased it and explained why I returning the toy. Customer services then explained to me that had the toy been damaged upon purhcase they would be prepared to refund my money however as the box was damaged they were not prepared to do so. I requested to speak to the store manager, James Green, who told me the same story and said that this was quite clear in their policy. I asked them where their policy was made clear to the public and he pointed to a small sign with small print located on top of the services desk which is located at the front of the store. This sign is clearly not legible to the public and can only be read if in close range to your eyes(by which I mean the distance you would hold a book up to read it). Proper signage should be provided at the check out or on your receipt where you could be made aware of your rights. I explained to the store manager that the box was damaged and why I was returning the toy in further detail and to say he was rude and arrogant would be an understatement. His reasoning to me for not providing a refund was that if he gave me it he would have to give other customers the same — clearly this is something that has happened many times before. I said to him that he could make an exception if he so wished and he said that he was not prepared to and was not interested in my reasons. His attitude towards me as a customer was extremely poor and unhelful and he seemed to marvel in the fact that he had the power to choose not to provide the refund — probably the only bit of power he has in his life! I am taking this matter further in order to ensure that this does not happen to other customers. All I would say is think twice before making any purchases at this store — given the current credit cruch, you would think that large stores like this would want to value the customers that they have.

If you want choice of toys in Reading, this is the place to go! And not only for toys it has a large range of baby /new born articles too, such as stair-gates, prams, cots, practically anything your baby could ever want or need! I recently went looking for a 1st birthday present for my son, and although I had looked high and low on the web and mothercare and ELC, couldn’t see anything that I thought would be good. However after visiting Toys r us, came away with more than 1 than present! Had a fantastic range of toys and lots that I had not seen elsewhere. The store could do with a bit of face-lift(inside and out) and make sure you don’t buy sweets there Areo bubbles were almost twice the price they were at Tesco.

decent toy shop with toys, clothes and nursery furniture/equipment. the store is very large and a bit dated and tired in appearance both inside and outside. Convenient situation for driving only as to walk from the town centre you have to cross a busy duel-carriage way(IDR).

A large chain store specialising in toys and games for children(and adults?!). It’s located just outside the main town centre area of Reading and is probably biggest toy shop in the area. They have a wide range of toys for all ages and interests. As it is not in the main part of the town centre it can be a bit of a trek to get there if you do not drive.
