This is a review of our experience at Richmond Café. We only passed on a day out in Richmond. Out of all the Thai Restaurants in Richmond, this was the best experience we have ever had. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. We had vegetable spring rolls to start with followed by a beef stir fry dish accompanied with boiled rice. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Thank you Née and all the Chefs at Richmond Café. You have us both as «Richmond Café» regulars!

This small, living room-esque Thai café in Richmond is a warm and cosy establishment with a wide menu. It took our party a long time to decide what we wanted but waitresses were patient and kind. Chef’s selection showed a good range of all fried items. Also tried the prawn and chicken served in lettuce cups which were tasty. Main course choices in our party included Penang and Green curries which were of the right chilli heat, steamed seabass with chilli and lemon came in a nice broth, fried seabass was enjoyable and prawn with galangal, lime leaves and lemongrass was enjoyable too. Nice choice of rice/noodles on the side with the option for soups if desired. Overall, speed of service was fast, efficient and the food came out quickly. Saw quite afew take-away orders and regulars during our visit so obviously a popular establishment. I would say the food isn’t the best Thai food on the planet, but certainly tasty, moreish and enjoyable, plus excellent value for money, around 18−20pounds pp for starters, drinks, main dish and side. We all had a lovely evening and would certainly return.

Small, unassuming looking restaurant on Richmond Hill that guarantees great Thai food at very reasonable prices. Perfect for a catch up meal with a friend or for getting take away from. One of my favourites is their Mussaman curry but honestly everything I’ve had has been good, especially the mixed starter platter.

I agree with the comments made by others, although I have only tried one other Thai restaurant in Richmond. Having said that, once you’ve found a good thing — why go anywhere else? Simple setting, but lovely staff and the food is always delicious.

Cosy, unassuming restaurant, but the food speaks for itself, fantastic menu, and top quality food with great prices. Completely recommended.

With so many Thai restaurants in the Richmond area, it’s unusual that the one offering the cheapest food should also be best. But the Richmond Café’s blend of unpretentious, traditional Thai cuisine is by far the best in the local area. The lunch menu is unique in that in runs every day including Sundays and offers a wide selection of choice. Most lunch menus opt to go with just three or four staple dishes, but the lunch menu at the Richmond Café offers a selection of curry based, noodle based and stir-fry dishes. I had the yellow curry cooked with tender chicken pieces and potatoes. The curry was delicately spiced and really quite comforting to eat. However, the restaurant’s ginger tea deserves a mention of its own, I could have drunk vats of the stuff and I’m not sure whether it’s home-made or not, but it definitely tasted as though that were the case.

the green curry is absolutely incredible get it with tofu and put it on coconut rice (and get pineapple juice) I dream of it regularly

the most runniest green curry ever and the pad thai was sour with mushy, way-over cooked noodles. might be bearable after a night out since at least 2 tables were filled with really wasted ppl

The best thai in richmond. As the name suggests you come here for well cooked delicious thai food in a relaxed environment. Probably not what youre looking for if your after a thai restaurant and a restaurant like atmosphere. Lovely and attentive staff. The thai salads are great starters, the thai curries mouth wtaering every time and the pla thai sea bass is simply beautiful. A gem of a place– probably one of richmonds best kept secrets.

I’d agree with all the other reviewers’ comments about the décor/appearance, however wanted to add that the Pad Thai is one of the better ones in London I’ve tried, and only £6!

I’m in accordance with the other reviewers that this isn’t the place to come for the glamour or superior comfort of the restaurant. However, it does rate highly for the speed and kindness of the service and significantly for the super-delicious and authentic Thai dishes, at surprisingly decent prices. It’s a great place for a fast and warming lunch, on a bracing windswept day, for little more than the comparable cost of an unremarkable sandwich elsewhere. There’s a buzzing, yet chilled, atmosphere here in the evenings; every dish I’ve tried from Pad Thai to curry and rice has been fresh, tasty, filling and hasn’t disappointed.

I’ve been working in Richmond for over a year now and only recently discovered this Thai restaurant, and that was because someone else suggested it. As the previous review says, the exterior doesn’t do it any favours, but perhaps they get enough custom not worry about it. I opted for the prawn red curry here. It’s really unusual for me to finish every single morsel of a Thai curry, as I tend to leave the non-meaty bits, but I took it as a sign of skilful cooking that I ate every last bamboo shoot. I’d have given this place four stars, except that the green curry was off the menu. A pretty major omission for a Thai place, I reckon.

An oddly named restaurant on Richmond Hill, the ‘Richmond café Thai cuisine’ is plain looking, and with the quality and variety of places to eat in the area, one could easily pass it by without a second glance. However, this would be a horrendous mistake, as it does not have the reputation as serving some of the finest Thai food in London for no reason. An excellent value menu(make sure you savour what the lunch menu has to offer) and wonderful, authentic thai food. The staff are all thai themselves, and if you walk past after-hours you will doubtlessly see them laughing together over plenty of the café food. In my opinion, this is as sure a sign as any that it’s top notch grub.
