Ah, Harvester. Really, what can you say? This Harvester used to be worse, quite grimy with sticky tables and children everywhere. It has newer tables now so I’ve not left half my arm behind, so that’s an improvement. The menu has been updated since I last went a couple of years ago. On this visit, we arrived just before noon on a Sunday. There was only one other table dining(but in 20 minutes it was getting busier). We had to wait to be seated as the staff ignored us. This was probably preferable though to our insufferably fake cheery waitress who was just SOLOUD and constantly trying to upsell everything(and then proceeded to be a crap waitress because she was too busy talking to other members of staff — even when we couldn’t see her we could hear her!) Salad bar was good, fresh and clean(being so early!) and the bread was still a bit warm. They have a fancy fountain drink tablet thing that mixes what you want; we both had Cherry Pepsi and agreed there wasn’t really any cherry flavour. There’s also only one drink point with 1 spout, so be prepared to wait. Ice is crushed but no straws given(I saw others with straws when we left, thanks waitress) so bear that in mind. They have a new sauce station with 6 or so different sauces for your main; I went and got 2 but there was nothing to put the sauce in to so I used 2 salad bowls, which was awkward. We had the JD sauce and the garlic mayo. JD sauce was molasses-like but we enjoyed it. Garlic was a bit strong but bland — not terrible, but I wouldn’t get it again. I had a chicken sandwich and my chicken was really overcooked and dry. I should have sent it back but eh, it’s a Harvester. Husband had a chicken breast with toppings and his was apparently much more moist. We spent about £25 on 2 mains and 2 fountain drinks.

Went there with my mother. Even though my mother doesn’t peak english she get very well along with one of waiter. She liked him a lot. Love the room style and interior brings warm feelings and reminds me a little bit of my own country great foods. Food was delicious well cooked and prepared. Great was that while we waited we were enjoying unlimited salad bar. That was very handy as we weren’t waiting at the empty table for our main food.

Full of noisy children and staff who don’t give a dam. Service is extremely slow for what is essentially a fast food joint. Very cheap like all harvesters however this one should be closed down even though it has recently been refurbished shame they didn’t refurbish the staff!

I’d been before and the restaurant was in a bit of a sorry state. But that’s all in the past now as it’s newly renovated and is drastically improved. Thankfully they kept hold of the staff as that was the really good thing previously and now the interior is better laid out, it’s cleaner and the toilets aren’t the dingy hole they used to be. The menu is smaller, but all the favourites are still there. The self serve soda fountain now does flavour shots so you can get cherry Pepsi — basically the only place I’ve had it outside the states. They also have an interesting flavour mixer with the ice cream too. Emphasis is on the grill now, but the salad bar is so much better than before too. It’s a delight to come here now.

Ribs. Mmmnumnumnum… For a cheap night out this is the place to be, as long as you don’t walk in with high expectations. Try the ribs, you won’t be disappointed. Triple chicken was a bit dry, pasta… erm. okay, free unlimited salad however is kinda good — I was full even before the main arrived. This place gets busy, so expect to wait 30 – 45 minutes for a table on a Saturday night(who cares though, it’s a pub!). They stop serving at 2200 hrs, and the salad bar disappears soon after that.
