We wandered in on a wet Wednesday lunchtime, mainly to get out of the pouring rain! The tiny tea room was packed, but we got a small table at the back, with some negotiation with other diners to get through. The menu was actually fairly extensive for a small tea room, with soups, jacket potatoes, sandwiches etc. However we had seen that the special of the day was chilli, and that was the perfect antidote to the cold rain! I had mine with bread and my father has his on a jacket potato with salad. It was delicious — really exceptional and absolutely perfect for that day. The home made coleslaw and salad was just scrummy! The tea was also spot on and a large pot of two gave us several cups each. I really recommend this tea room and will go back whenever I am in Rye!

Great, centrally located tea room. There are many places in Rye to have an afternoon tea, but this place and The Swan Tea Rooms stand out to me. The cakes here were very home made and very delicious. The front room felt a little cramped, but everyone becomes very polite and allows for the squeeze. Great pot of tea too. They have one little outside table at the front. Well worth popping for a slice of lemon drizzle, or something more substantial.
