I’ve gotta say, a total«date night» atmosphere, but all in all a real cool place. The area that you wait in to be seated is a place I would love to just hang out. Lounging by the fire with rows of book shelves and the ancient exposed beams. Probably need to be 30+ to appreciate the place but I found it to be really nice.

Across the street from our hotel the bar has a wonderful atmosphere and wonderful staff. The waiters and bartenders are wonderful to deal with and the ambience has a cozy laid back vibe. I would recommend stopping in for drinks or food. We stopped in for dinner and were happy with our food. The portions were pretty sizeable. One person in our group order the ribs which were massive. Sunday roast, a mix of beef lamb and turkey was good and ribs were ok. I give an extra star just for the service and ambience.

When you are coming back from the 7 pm(last tour) bus, most eating places would have closed on a Sunday; Unilocal was suggesting an Indian place, but we prevailed until we saw Cloister’s menu. The carvery was closed by the time we got there, but there was beef roast left.(On Sundays, there is a choice of turkey, pork or beef for roast) After what seems to be endless meals of fish and chips takeaway, a proper Sunday dinner with pints of Bitter and Summer Lightning was a much needed comfort food. For the price and quality of food, the beef roast, with Yorkshire pudding, a generous side of steamed/boiled vegetables, sweet potato soufflé(oh my Lord, melted cheese on dear sweet potatoes; heavenly!) and properly roasted potatoes. Ah, the Yorkshire pudding was a delight! It had a meatball in the middle, which is rather intriguing. The texture was just right. I can’t make proper Yorkshire puddings to save my own life; so, the Yorkshire pudding was a real treat! Oh, and the mustard and horse radish offered for the beef roast tasted home made. Watch out: don’t put too much mustard unless you are ready for it – and if you made a mistake like I did, be sure to not down your pint too quickly… Absolutely loved the atmosphere; a quiet place to have a rather late Sunday dinner. If you haven’t given the Sunday carvery a try, I would be mighty envious of you if you had the turkey version.

To be honest, we did not expect this venue for our lunch break. We purchased the lunch option through Golden Tours, expecting to eat the the cathedral and were surprised that Cloisters was going to serve our lunch. We had a choice of fish and chips or vegetarian pasta. The vegetarian pasta was not pasta but roasted vegetables that one would expect as a side dish and not main course. The roasted potatoes were rock hard. No drink came with the lunch even though the tour company charged us 20 pounds. I left hungry and disappointed.

Great fish and chips. Good atmosphere. There weren’t very many people on a cold wet Friday afternoon so it was quiet, perfect for a good meal and chat with the lads.

This is a nice pub, with plenty of space and areas to sit down in. The crowd is more of a mature one, and the calm and quiet atmosphere reflects this. A good ale selection and the food can not be sniffed at either. If you find yourself in Salisbury on a Sunday and you fancy a good old Sunday roast feed; you can’t go wrong here. They serve a brilliant carvery and I have never left there feeling anything other than full :-) I certainly wouldn’t have this place as a local boozer, however for a few hours on a Sunday with a pint, a meal and bit of calm relaxation you can’t go wrong.

Its a nice pub. Only went in for beer. Beer was ok. Nice selection of ales. Staff where friendly. Price of beer was high for me, being from the midlands. But usual price here outside the wetherspoons.

A nice little pub with lots of seating areas. This place on a weekend is filled with your more mature drinker opposed to the teen wine bars. Its a great place to meet with friends for a chat, the music is a good level. The drink selection is really good and prices are reasonable, its not too far out of town either.
