The Akbar

Situated in what used to be a pub with traffic on the busy A1 road audible even above the gentle piano music. Very courteous waiters. Seats approx 45 with no windows (covered by roller blinds). Food was delicious and arrived promptly. I ordered chicken vindaloo as my main course which contained huge chunks of perfectly cooked meat. The meal was also good value compared to other such restaurants in the area. Bombay mix was provided which was a nice touch. Pleased to have a wedge of orange at the end of the meal to freshen the palate.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and I was not disappointed. Will visit again soon to try their other dishes.

The Akbar is a fairly new restaurant situated right on the edge of town on the A1 in what was formerly a pub. The food is average. We found the staff to be over attentive which was annoying as it was our anniversary and we aned to be left alone.
