A real old-​fashioned pub, great for Saturday lunch while shopping. The service is friendly, there are outside tables for smokers/​summer and a separate room with one large table which is great with young children. The food is basic but good and not at all expensive — we love the giant Yorkshire puddings!

This is a great, old pub — my favorite in Sherborne. It can get crowded on weekend nights, with standing-​room only. There are all ages here — some just young enough to be in a pub, but most in 30’s, 40’s, 50’s. Picnic tables and a heater outside for smokers.

This is a keystone of the local scene in Sherborne. Don’t expect luxury or 5 star service, this is a real CAMRA pub with real character.
It’s the sort of place where any sense of class melts into the spit and sawdust, where you rub shoulders with local workmen and director of industry on their days off alike.
Real ales and cheap food is another plus, although don’t expect fine dining. It’s not for everyone this place, but if you’re into your beers and want to meet the locals, you won’t go far wrong here.
