Village Gym

As part of my Detox month I am using a two week groupon voucher exclusive to this gym. All I can say is I was blown away!
Located on Dog Kennel Lane, just off the Stratford Road in Shirley — The Village Hotel houses an awesome gym. There is a huge car park. As you enter the reception the hotel front desk is in front, with Starbucks coffee to your left, along with a full bar area to the left and a grill restaurant to your right. Next to the reception desk is the gym reception. Towels are available for hire at the cost of £1
As you go through the rotating barrier the pool is visible in front, with the stairs to the gym on your left. The changing rooms are quite big with showers and the lockers are card operated. The pool is a respectable size considering it is housed in a hotel. The Sauna/​Steam room are both a decent size, clean and of high standard. Upstairs the dance studio is in front for a wide range of fitness classes and a spin/​cycle room to your right. On the left is the gym and it is pretty impressive. The machines are of incredible quality — the treadmills have air con facility… cool air on your face whilst doing a grueling run… I would say thats something special. The cross trainers, bikes etc all touch screen. The layout is brilliant. All your cardio section to the left and all the weights and various machines to your right. Some impressive kit i have never seen before in other gyms — all state of the art. Cable machines working different muscle groups. The quipment at this gym is by far the best i have seen so far. I can’t wait to try the classes. Membership is £45 a month, there is an off peak membership available for £34 a month. It is £7.50 for a one off visit. I have been informed by staff that they do offer discounts and free personal training sessions if interested in joining… I for one am tempted!

After hearing a lot about this gym I decided to try it myself and it was better than I imagined. They have TVs and radios in all their cardio machines! I take full advantage of this and watch and listen to a variety of shows. The gym is quiet small but is excellent for what it is. The only thing I found a bit worrying was the fact that I didn’t have an induction so it was lucky I’ve used all the machines before, elsewhere. Unfortunately they only have one of every toning and muscle building machine so you may wait a while if someone is on a one you want to use. On the other hand they have state of the art equipment. So you might be thinking this must cost a lot? The member ships start at forty five pounds a month and fifteen pound for each visit without a membership. The price includes swimming and the sauna and steam room. It also includes all their classes such as spin and yoga. So this offer was too good to refuse for me!
