Great pub!!! The bartender was really friendly — despite me being an obvious tourist with my silly American accent. :) The interior was recently redone but they took efforts to maintain some of the original structure — big wooden beams and such. The real highlight is the medieval wall painting which was discovered accidentally during construction in 1987. Very rad! See the photos I posted. The bathrooms are modern and clean, but I still can’t get used to the lack of ass-gaskets, paper towels, and single-faucets here in jolly ol England.

Quick glance: + good selection of food with wide price range + delicious and beautifully presented pub food + Sunday roast available + Aspall cider on tap! — no on site parking available A friend from Shropshire picked this spot in Shrewsbury when we were on our way home from Wales back to Greater London. The pub is spacious and has a good selection of drinks(including Aspall cider on tap!). The location is slightly off the high street so it may be missed, but it is worth a visit. There is some on-street parking and various pay-and-display car parks nearby. Sunday roast is available, as well as steak from the grill which tends to be quite expensive(e.g. £17 for 8oz rib-eye, or £238oz fillet as at Sep 2010). Portion sizes are big and filling, and the food comes beautifully presented. For those on a budget or requiring a light snacks, those are also available as «All Day Items» ranging from £5−8 per dish. Ingredients are locally sourced where available, and the waitress who serves us was bubbly and helpful. Overall, this is a nice spot for lunch and drinks although not the cheapest pub food around, approaching close to London prices.
