The closest to American barbecue that we’ve found in London. Baby back ribs were fork tender and had a nice smoked flavor without the sauce. They give you four sauces to choose from, and mix, as you see fit. Even the sweet pickles were much closer to an American pickle. The mashed baked potato was excellent, as was the coleslaw. The only negative was the jalapeño cornbread which was on the dry side. Make a reservation, and enjoy!

Fabulous! Very very cool vibe from the interior décor to the music and staff. They know how to make an Old Fashioned! Great food and I’m looking forward to my next visit x

Really fantastic place. Very unassuming from the outside but once you are inside it has got a real atmosphere about the place and smells amazing of the various smoked meats. We went to Shotgun last night after reading some great reviews here and in the Guardian. Its only been there for 5 months but I can see that its going to be a staple of London restaurants for many years to come. It is always a good sign when a restaurant is packed on a Monday evening. We arrived to be greeted by a very nice chap who as the evening progressed seemed to be the manager potentially owner. He knew the menu back to front and was able to explain everything to us in thorough detail. As an apéritif we ordered Gin ‘n’ Joose each. Arrived very quickly and tasted lovely, a very well thought out cocktail. Would love to know the method to replicate! We ordered what I believe is the signature dish the sour pancakes and pigs ear. I must say that I am not a huge fan of pigs ear, but was keen to order their signature dish and was not disappointed. It was in a lovely sweet barbeque sauce and the pancakes really added to the dish! For our mains we ordered two combination plates which comes with four sides. A very healthy portion to be honest. But it gave us a chance to try nearly all of the sides. I must say the baked potato purée is FANTASTIC. I would’ve happily ordered four of those. The BBQ beans aswell are great. I really am unable to fault anything. Our mains arrived very promptly and we’re fantastic, the smell was amazing and the taste beautiful. Smoked to perfection and cooked the same. You are also presented with four sauces that I assume are made in house. Two have got a real kick to them, for my personal taste I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce they have which has a real nice tang and adds to the dish. Alongside our food we were enjoying a French Malbec which went down very nicely and paired well with the meats. The puddings did look amazing but unfortunately we were both just too full to have them. We will go back to have a taste of those for sure. Asking for the bill we had a real good chat with the manager who had been serving us all meal. He was telling us about the restaurant etc, really nice guy with some excellent banter too. Upon presentation of the bill he mentioned that he had taken our aperitifs off the bill due to the wait for our food. We really had not noticed a long wait at all and actually felt our food came relatively promptly. Was a very kind gesture of them. All in all for what was a fantastic meal in a prime location it was great value of roughly £50 per head. I have already recommended this place to my friends and colleagues and would stress for people to visit. Best American style food I have had in London! Look forward to visiting again. Their lunch deal sounds fantastic at £10 for main side and coffee.

What a place! As soon as you go through the unassuming doors you are transported to a safari lodge that could be in Kenya or Madagascar. I half expected the servers to be wearing khaki shorts with binoculars round their necks! But the place is far too classy for that. Rather than being cheesy or «theme» the lodge style is tastefully done & fades quietly into the background once you’ve settled at your table. Our server on the day was simply phenomenal. Probably the best I’ve ever encountered. She chatted to us about the menu, explaining various things & making suggestions about sauces. The barman was similarly great, taking my BF to sample a couple of bourbons before he selected one to order. I genuinely felt like they wanted us to have a great experience in their restaurant. The food… well, what can I say but amazing! Each dish was cooked to perfection. My BF had the pigs ear, a famous dish recommended by critics but it was a bit too off-the-wall for me. The pork belly was my favourite by a mile. We will definitely be back here & I highly recommend if you are reading this to immediately book a table… you won’t regret it!

I think I have found the perfect combination of fantastic bbq’d meat and sophisticated atmosphere. This new restaurant on Kingly Street is allll about American BBQ with a New Orleans vibe — stunning bar with chic seating. The menu itself is quite small and a few things on there look a little odd — pigs ear and sour pancakes for instance(and we were advised they were literally what they said they were and therefore not for the faint hearted). There aren’t really starters per se but 8ish snack dishes. We were starving and wanted to save ourselves for the meat so shared the sour cream & onion dip(this did come with burnt cabbage, which had a fantastic smoky flavour but I would have preferred good old crisps). In summary — a weird eclectic mix of snacks(devilled quails egg/boiled peanuts/pimento cheese) that I wouldn’t say added much or were anything to shout about. The mains however — golllllly! Highly recommend the combination plate. Although a whopping £24 each it comes with a tonne of meat; duck breast, pork belly and brisket. Each of them delicious, smoky and perfectly cooked. What I would recommend is getting this along with another smaller meat dish and sharing the whole bunch between 2 of you(& skipping lunch). We also got some sides — BBQ beans & sweet potato fondant. Both were good — the sweet potato came with fabulous caramalised pecans and the bbq beans had a lotta lentils in which was a nice touch. Be-warned there are no chips on the menu! My favourite meat was Jacob’s Ladder which is a short rib off the bone — amazing! And again so much meat. They also bring to the table 4 different sauces made in house; BBQ, hot BBQ, mustard and chilli. I am a wimp so only went with the BBQ which was great. My bf went for the chilli and highly recommended — great flavour as well as quite the kick. They have wine on tap which was good, full bodied red along with a small but jazzy cocktail menu. I had the almond gin fizz, which unsurprisingly consisted of almond milk, gin and a little fizz. It was good — not too sweet, refreshing and full of flavour. The cocktails come with authentic metal straws which make it hard to drink but look fun. The service was brilliant — knowledgable, helpful staff who you could tell loved what they were serving as well as having a passion for cocktails and the beer and spirits they served. Apparently you can book online however I struggled. Luckily when we turned up on a Saturday at 5pm we were able to get some seats at the bar(the rest of the tables were booked up). It was brilliant meal but I did think a little pricey… maybe we went OTT on the order though!

Dropped in on impulse for a post dinner drink with a couple of friends and we walked away pleased we had. This is an absolutely beautiful bar, based on Southern American food and spirit… Think classy American Brasserie meets New Orleans… with plush booth seating, high quality fixtures — warm dark wood finish that was very welcoming. We sat at the bar and spoke to the bartender who gave us great advice and samples of the wine to help us choose. She appeared to know a lot about the cocktails and drinks they sell, and also offered to make us anything off menu if we wanted it and she had the ingredients. I settled on a lovely smooth red, although watching the cocktails being made I was very tempted! Only open a handful of months this is a great addition to the area, I love the chilled out vibe and after watching the food coming out of the kitchen, would love to try their menu. It looked and smelled delicious, although this review is only based on the service, quality of drinks and the vibe of the place, as we came full from another restaurant.

When your tummy is full of beer and wings you somehow seem to find yourself here… No, wait that’s just me. After dinner my sister, a friend and I came across this lovely gem! With a western vibe and warm beautiful furnishings we knew we had to have a drink! Though their menu was slightly limited the bartender was willing to make us anything we wanted … The wings in my tummy didn’t agree with the idea of cocktails so I chose a crisp white wine! Sooooo delicious! She even allowed me to sample it before buying which was nice! Needless to say we had an absolutely wonderful evening and will return again soon!

Came here last night for pre-dinner eats and drinks. What a fantastic place. Very comfortable seating and welcoming and helpful staff. Tip — ask for a table at the back of the restaurant if it’s cold outside; every time the door opens a burst of freezing air rushes in. We had a number of cocktails, all of which were excellent and we ordered the wet brisket and the pulled pork, both of which were amazing. The puddings also looked preposterously good. The food here is out of this world. I can’t wait to come back here for a proper night of gluttony.

10 Stars! Food is Ah-May-Zing! I’m Texan and KNOW barbecue. Service was outstanding! They catered an event for us. Brad carved the meat and talked about their process — making the serving interactive. Daniela coordinated, arranged and thought of everything. James was a great bartender who was very attentive. Supplies were delivered late but they handled everything like pro’s. Eat here for great Texas food.

Forget London, this is some of the best BBQ you’ll find outside of the South. I had the brisket and it was fantastic. Good beefy and smoky flavor, very tender and a bit fatty(and I mean that in a great way). The baked beans themselves were small(the beans, not the portion size, which was actually a nice size) and a bit spicy, but very tasty as was the potato salad. Great selection of bourbons. This is not a family BBQ place. It’s for grown-ups. There’s not a bunch of crap on the walls and color-in menus. This is more like a steakhouse — a tribute to meat and smoke and bourbon. Go and enjoy.
