Ciao has been revamped in every way. New owner, new décor, new furniture and layout. It is a very pleasant place to go for a bite to eat or a drink. The previous owner took a run down café and did nothing with it. Now, new life has been breathed into the place. The old reviews on here refer to the old Ciao. That has gone. Check it out now, you won’t be disappointed.

Unfortunately this place is very dull and disappointing. It might be it’s a huge cold room, very noisy due to echoing(especially when lots of people), the art gallery is actually more like a display of amateurish art work(and same displayed for months!)by local residents. Food is kinda homemade and fresh(although not impressed by owner coming back from Tesco with shopping bag!) but pricey — cakes surely not homemade and not that tasty. The place is now licensed and has a bar area. Thorpe Bay broadway would actually need a classier place.

Small coffee shop on the site of the old ‘wall to wall’ carpet store in The Broadway. Plenty of tables and chairs inside as well as a couple outside for the warmer days. They have three PC’s all with internet access which can be used if you are a paying customer. At the rear is a small art gallery with oil paintings of local artists. The food is nicely made although on the pricey side, the coffee is nothing special and again on the pricey side.

Fantastic little coffee shop serving yummy Italian coffee(and it’s all Fairtrade too!) as well as food such as fresh paninis and baguettes. The café also provides free internet access for customers that spend over £5. What makes this place really unusal though is the fact that a small art gallery is attached to the café. You can browse and even buy the art while you enjoy your coffee! Really friendly atmosphere too — highly recommended.
