Charming modern hipster vibe softened enough to not scare off the locals. Good selection of beer, pleasant staff, and good food. Bar snacks are best on the slow braised dishes, dining room pretty good too — the crackling on the roast pork points to some technical skill in the kitchen, although there seems to be a bit of indifference on the non-meat side of things. Four and a half, as its one of the best in St Albans, but would be four with more competition.

Well it used to be very very good, probably the best in st albans. On a recent visit it had changed hands and they have very clearly lost their way. I would check reviews after this carefully. Under new management.

A place we tend to use for something a bit special. Nice cocktail bar while you wait(not open to mon diners). Clean modern interior, nicely lit. Food very good(modern European would be the best description). Some of the tables downstairs can be quite close together so if you want a nice romantic meal for two you might want to request a table upstairs.

Tries to give an aura of ‘trendiness’ but fails. Food combinations do not work and are pretentious. Both food and drinks are overly expensive. Small sirloin steak, potatoes and two veg with a glass of red comes out at £32. 80 plus 12.5% ‘discretionary’ service charge.

Good environment inside and a nice bar with a good choice of drinks. Food disappoints however — nothing really wrong just not that exciting and portions are not over large.

I’ve eaten here 3 or 4 times and have had a really good experience each and every time. The food is well cooked, modern and interesting and is not too outrageously priced. It is definitely one of the more ‘special’ places to eat in St Albans and although I’m sure you can find better this has always been a reliable favourite for me. It is located near the top of St Peters Street but parking near there isn’t great so you may be better to use one of the main town car parks. You may be able to park on one of the nearby roads if you get lucky. You definitely need to book in advance for a Saturday night and probably Fridays too. The restaurant is nicely decorated in a modern style but despite it’s seating capacity which is quite large it still maintains a warm intimate feel due to the separate rooms which avoids everyone being lumped in together.

I actually think this place is just average, there is definitely better dining experiences to be found in St Albans. Maybe just an off night, but the last time I went for a friend’s birthday party, they over salted the food. This coming from a lover of seasoning. It’s a pleasant enough looking restaurant inside with a nice cosy atmosphere and the staff were ok, it’s just the food doesn’t pull any major punches.

Not sure how or why this restaurant is so highly rated. I have been there once(and that was enough) and found it expensive and the staff not too friendly.

This is honestly the best restaurant I have ever eaten at: I went about 4 years ago and I can still remember what I had(the best creamed spinach side order I have ever experienced — I still dream about it). It is a bit on the pricey side, but it is too good to miss if you live in the area.
