What a lovely genuine pub. Theres bought false about it it’s got all the quirkiness of a genuine local. And a nice range of real ale too. It’s got the usual dark wood décor with leather seating. Nice old signage and posters. A single telly and a dartboard. Nice patio yard. Would love this as my local and I hope the bosses of this pub read this because I am from Sedgley where pubs like this you can count on two hands, keep up the good work you have a bostin pub

The Mermaid has a fantastic open mic night on a Wednesday, does some great real ale and even people that prefer cider can get the best pint. I would really recommend this place as somewhere to have a drink it’s run by some really friendly people and supports some really good music.

I’m getting very jealous of St Albians. They are really lucky with some of the pubs they have. And here is another one. I love pubs with a little blackboard behind the bar detailing the constantly changing selection of ales. I enjoyed a Sauvin So Good and an Old Woman’s loose gown(wahey!), both from local brewers I believe. They also had ‘guest crisps’ so I enjoyed some pickled onion monster munchgreat tasting but foul smelling. The layout inside is pleasant but most people were in the small area outside leaving me with just the Machine brothers for company(fruit and cigarette taking care of their younger sibling, quiz). In the evenings, things get much busier as this is another of St Alban’s small live music venues(as a found on my more recent visit). Might be my favourite pub in St Albans, but I can’t quite decide.
