Consistently good, lovely fresh produce and very child friendly(they must have over 30 high chairs!). I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Try their breakfasts!

Met up with my family here one day this summer after they played pitch and putt in the park. I was happy that on a regular weekday, the place had a great buzz without being hectic. My husband looked at the waffles menu, then looked at the breakfast items listed(trying to be ‘good’). He decided on scrambled egg and bacon and asked for it on toast. Upon requesting this, he was politely told that it would come on a waffle, not toast. It is a Waffle House after all. My sons and I were very entertained! I ordered a latte, which was excellent. Can’t remember what my two teenage sons ordered — it seemed to be consumed before I even laid eyes on their plates. Yep, I’m a fan. Great place for a casual brunch.

This has become too popular over the years. Whilst the food is excellent, service is often slow and coffee arrives cold. Keep an eye on your serving staff so you can call them over, or at least attempt to. Difficult to park and seating can be tricky. Popular with young families so it can be noisy.

Went today with family. The location is great and the set up is nice. But the food is shocking. My nephew ordered a waffle with cheese and tomato. It had a pile of grated cheese and two slices of tomato. It was like warm. Very very poor. Overall the food is very poor and looks like it is not properly prepared

Can’t say enough about this place!!! I love the food and literally, everything is served on a waffle! So yummy. During the nicer weather, we take our dog and sit outside. It has beautiful surroundings and a nice stroll through the park can burn off those calories you just ate! So go ahead and get dessert, you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful location and amazing waffles, perfect for any time of day — the bacon banana and tomato waffles are amazing for breakfast, and the banoffee waffles for desert are delish too(even better smothered with the free flowing maple syrup). They also have really good milkshakes and coffee, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming! Lots of people have talked about having to queue but I promise it is worth it :)

I do love coming here — it has the perfect setting, and the staff are always lovely. I have marked them 4 because I do think the waffles are overpriced.

Don’t understand the fuss about this place. Was expecting it to be so much better but in reality it was something I could’ve had at home. So expensive for what you get also. Could’ve had an M&S picnic for the price of our waffle meals.

I have seen this restaurant described as «belgian». However, having lived in Begium for 20 years, we never eat waffles in this way! The restaurant is set in a nice setting and the waffles are good with interesting dishes. The breakfast is a must but I do think it is quite expensive for what it is… Maybe they could add gaufre de Liège to the menu?

I don’t understand the excitement that surrounds the Waffle House in St Albans. I’ve been on a few occasions over the past few years and every time I think«maybe this time I’ll like it more», but each time I come away feeling a bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the location is lovely. They have a lot of shaded outdoor seating with heaters in Winter. The old mill building is nicely preserved and if indoors you might be lucky enough to sit in the older parts with the mill’s working parts on display. However, the big draw of a waffle restaurant should be the waffles. Unfortunately the waffles are quite underwhelming. I’m not sure if they’re cooked fresh for each order but they always seem to be lukewarm or cold by the time they’re served. There’s also the no-reservations issue. The queues here are always so long! Never good when you have to wait outside in the rain to be seated. There are far better options in St Albans with no queues, better food and equally good locations.

My very thoughtful fiancé had planned a day out for the two of us and I had no idea what we were doing. First on the list was breakfast and although I guessed restaurant after restaurant, I had no idea we’d be going to The Waffle House. First of all, St. Albans(especially for a first timer) is a beautiful area. Driving into the parking lot you see the outdoor area(that’s currently tented during the chilly weather) and a quaint little building. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the space heaters(everywhere) and then the roaring fire. The ONLY reason I am removing a star is because of how cold it was but you can tell it’s an old building(and a charming one at that!) so you have to let it slide. Now, I was extremely ill and was on heavy medication and very nauseated but I had to put a brave face on at breakfast and order. Mostly everything is waffle-oriented. Coming from the states, I expect a «grand slam» bevvy of items from toast, to eggs, to pancakes so I was looking for alternatives. Thankfully, I ordered the waffles with whipped cream with a combination of(beautifully) spiced berries and apples — not my usual thing(I’m a savory breakfast kinda girl) but so sensational. My fiancé, on the other hand, went the savory route(perfect reason to eat out of his plate!) and ordered a waffle topped with shredded cheese, herbs and tomatoes which he devoured with no issue! We paired our meals with a cappuccino(I needed the extra pick in the behind to get going) and his black coffee. I couldn’t eat much due to my sour stomach but everything I ate was incredibly tasty. The waffle got soggy(obviously) but it didn’t matter. The server was concerned I didn’t enjoy my meal and asked my fiancé while I slipped away to use the ladies room — how thoughtful! We’ll be back on a day where we want to escape busy London and enjoy some waffles that make us miss Belgium big time very soon!

My friend and I had brunch here today and the food was quite nice. I had a big breakfast and my friend had smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Both dishes came with a piece of waffle. The waffle was crispy on the outside, soft inside. We also shared a sweet waffle which was served with pecan and butterscotch sauce and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Decent portion size for all dishes. Only downside was we asked for maple syrup and as soon as we used the syrup for our waffles, we were surrounded by bees/wasps… I guess that’s what happens when you choose to sit outside…

Always service with a smile and despite their popularity you never have to wait too long to be seated. A great range of waffles both sweet and savoury. You’ll love it here and dogs are welcome!

I’ve been to the Waffle House with my Mummy friends a few times and usually go late morning, before the lunch time rush. Unfortunately as we all have prams/pushchairs we have to sit outside, which if it is very cold or wet is not ideal, especially with young children. Although on one occassion they had erected a sort of cover to keep you dry. The setting is lovely in an old converted water mill, there is even a museum above the restaurant. To be honest the service is hit and miss, with long periods of waiting sometimes. Both times I have eaten savoury dishes I have found the toppings to be luke warm(chilli con carne, and mushrooms). Although the sweet waffles are to die for. If you fancy a unique setting and something a bit different then this is the place(although may be slightly over priced).

The waffle house is located near to verulamium park. Its a lovely old building. They serve sweet and savoury waffles. This is a place you would go to around tea time. They can get quite busy and sometimes you have to queue for an hour just to get in. But if you are looking for an unusual place to go this is it. The service can be a bit hit and miss and they get so busy.

For a special afternoon tea why not visit this waffle house? It’s open right around the year but I can honestly say it’s much nicer in the warm weather, to sit outside, choose and eat your waffle in such delightful surroundings! Originally a 16th century watermill on the river Ver, the menu offers both savoury and sweet waffles and there’s maple syrup on every table, just like you get salt and pepper. Don’t go here expecting to eat in a hurry, since deciding which waffle to have will take time, there’s just so many to choose from. Everything is freshly cooked and is of a very high quality. As you’d expect, they offer a variety of coffees, teas and shakes. It’s an interesting place to be if you like people watching! When you’ve had your waffle, why not work it off by visiting the museum on the upper two floors of the watermill; taking a walk over the park(just the other side of the road from the Waffle House); visit the Verulamium museum — there was a roman villa on the site and you can visit the site where it stood; St. Albans Abbey is at the opposite end of the park or you could just stroll along Fishpool street to admire the period buildings.

It’s truly waffle-icious! Make mine a pot of Maple syrup with a double stack of spelt waffles, field mushrooms and eggs on the side. Yummmmmmmmmmmm. Tip: Save room for pud as the sweet waffle selection will have you salivating before you’ve finished your savory. The chocolate milkshakes need a mention too! Proper tasty. Beautiful location(even better when the suns out) the spacious patio is right on the waters edge so whatever you don’t eat you can always feed to the ducks(just don’t let the staff catch you) Bottom line this is the best place in St Albans to share lazy weekend breakfast/brunch with friends and family(it’s very family friendly!)

Absolutely love the Waffle House — you have to visit if you are ever in St Albans. My only gripes are that it’s always incredibly busy therefore you have to be expected to wait at peak times. Don’t expect out of hours service either as The Waffle House only opens during the day.
