It’s hard to believe this is a chain pub — but don’t let this put you off! This newly(ish) built pub is ideally located on the east lancs, with adequate car parking and a nice interior. Menu has a vast selection on offer that caters for everyone — proper home cooked grub of very good quality. Probably the best place in this area to have a carvery! Famous for their huge desserts and homemade ice creams — you must try them! Added bonus of a ‘cakeaway’ if you prefer to enjoy these delights at home! Bar is well stocked and well staffed. Can get very busy here but well worth the wait! Quiz on a Tuesday is excellent and highly recommended. Overall a very good quality pub where you won’t be disappointed!

For the Chain this is quite a nice example! With its location close by the East Lancs Rd to Liverpool it’s not like a motorway side little chef At all Being there on a Saturday lunch, nice background music and a nice booth I was looking forward to lunch . Food was as expected to be pub grub but done well. Crispy chips ! Home made coleslaw and really good cheese on my burger ! Good took about 15 – 20 minutes to arrive and was very good. The ice cream selection again is like all of these chain pubs ! But this is far better than the applewood from further down the road near Astley There is a busy pub quiz on a Tuesday night ! Worth a pub lunch trip. Large on site car park ! Bar was reasonably priced as well The only reason this was not 5 stars was on the basis of the staff in the front of house ! The manager seating us at our table(two of us arrived before our parents) seated us at a tiny pokey table in the bright sunshine. So I asked to be moved to be told there were no free tables ! So we sat down and as I went to the toilet. Spotted a booth not 30 seconds after being told it was full. I asked a waitress if it was reserved she said no so now we had a lovely booth! Also several of the staff were very loose lipped behind the bar !

Food was gross. The bar wrote down the wrong table on our order, and we ended up waiting 40 minutes to get fed. Avoid this place if you can.

We walked in to find it nice and the play area was good but in need of some TLC and the staff was unfriendly. The food was okay but until it’s staff and play area is revamped it maybe a while until we return.

Been to lymewood meny time’s and the cake is the reason i go… the food is nice and i have never had a bad meal but it can get very busy with sometimes waiting a while to be seated. that just shows you how popular it is. You cant book so go early and the desserts can be boxed up and taken home has they are quite big but to be fair some of them have to much chantilly cream in them making them look big and the choux pastry is on the dry side so i avoid them cakes, other wise they are lovely. Service in general is good but the bar lets it down, i have waited so long for drinks that my food came before i got served. Adults without children are in the front of the pub while families are at the back making it better for couples not wanting to be bothered by kids.

Cake… huge cakes… Seriously, the cakes at this place are works of visual art and I will disagree with the previous reviewer and say that they actually are rather nice. If you have issues with insulin you may wish to share a slice with a friend and you do have to keep in mind that this is pub food and not gourmet grub. As a frequent visitor to Haydock(my in laws are based here), I often find myself at Lymewood Farm during a visit. It is an inviting venue and whilst clearly a pub doesn’t feel overly ‘pubbish’. It is clear that families are not only welcome but encouraged but they don’t ‘kiddy’ up the place either. The food, as I mentioned, is pub food but of a decent quality. They have a carvery option but we always order from the menu and have yet to find much to complain about with our orders. Again, it isn’t going to be Michelin Star cooking. It is clear that just like most other pubs a lot of this stuff is heated rather than cooked. However, if you are looking for a place to hang out with some friends with a pint and a decent meal you won’t go too far wrong. Don’t forget the cake!

The lyme wood farm is a great and friendly place for a bite to eat, the menu has alot to choose from such as a cavery or burger and chips and also with a children menu it can cater for the full family, Also with a relaxing atmosphere what more could you from a restaurent. The food is great quilty no matter what you order, but the main seling point of the lyme wood farm is its giant deserts from cheese cake to choclate fudge and if you dont eat it all you can wrap it up and eat it at home bu to be honset there HORRIBLE and in my opion that really lets them down they look good on show but when there on your plate they just look naff. If youre looking for a restaurent that has a play area for kids and does good food you should definlty go there. Thats why i gave the lymewood 4 stars because the deserts let it down

Gypsey1978 has a point about customer resentment. I feel a bit miffed that I can’t wear a hat, enter with 4 other men below the age of 30& have 2 sit/stand in a designated area if I want 2 drink alcohol. Rules rules rules, & stupid rules at that. The owners clearly want 2 attract clean cut, classier public, which is fine, but the food & drink, service & overall presentation doesn’t back up or deserve these type of regulations. Walk into Lymewood & you’d struggle 2 find anything that would set it apart from any other gastro pub. On the plus side, the food is pretty good and reasonably priced & half decent carvery is available. The thing which Lymewood specialises is the desserts. There are always a wide range of treats & cakes available 4 eating in or 4 ‘cake away’. These cakes are ever changing & freshly made. Shame that the ale is a bit on the pricey side.

serves up a very tasty carvery and other foods aswell. if you attend in large numbers(15+) some of you will have to have the carvery no questions asked as the kitchen cant cope cooking so many meals at once. sign on the door saying no groups of lads greater in number than 3 if under 25, which is a bit ageist and sexist of them as when girls of that age get to gether then can be just as loud and crude as lads. gets very busy most sundays so arrive in plenty time to search for a parking spot and to Queue up!

This is a newish pub in St Helens. It’s in a great position on the East Lancs, is easy to get to and the parking is great. It’s very busy on Tuesdays but still the service was efficient and friendly and the prices were resonable. There is a great choice of desserts and they hold a good oub quiz night on a Tues.
