Today we visited Toast for a spot of brunch. The food was fine, the staff were neither friendly nor rude and the place was busy which was not surprising seeing as we hit it right at peak brunchtime(11ish on a Saturday morning). We arrived to find all the outside tables full as it was a rare sunny day, but there was a free one inside so were presented with menus straight away and took our seats. One of the menus had mayo or something sticking it together which was a bit nasty, but aside from that the range of food seemed fine so long as you were looking for breakfast or lunch snacks. I ordered a breakfast bagel and Stu had a club sandwich which we arranged with the unsmiling but efficient server. She didn’t seem concerned about the mayo menu and just took it away as she rushed off. The drinks arrived quickly and the food shortly after. While we waited we chatted, but it is a small space with an open kitchen trying to serve a fair amount of people so it was pretty noisy! Didn’t bother us too much but not really the place to come if you’re not up for a bit of hustle and bustle. There’s also not a lot of room to move around inside as they’ve squeezed every inch of space out of the place and put in a load of tables and window bars. The staff whizzed round us capably but I did feel in the way a bit. The food itself was fine. My bagel was well toasted, though the fillings(egg, bacon, mushrooms, cheese) left a pile of grease on my plate. The club sandwich was alright too, well filled with a wee bit of salad on the side. Plus points for the additional wee saucer that came with my tea for the teabag though — I am particular about my tea and this was a nice cuppa. Plates were cleared quickly and there was no rush to leave, our whole visit was maybe 45 mins to an hour. Pros– quick service, lots of choice for breakfast things on the menu, reasonable prices. Cute décor, I loved the wallpaper and the art on the walls. Cons– a bit squished, staff could’ve been a bit friendlier, and the food was only okay on this visit. Overall we’d go back but might try a different day/time to see if we’d have a different experience. I wish I could say more positive things because I’ve read some lovely reviews here on Unilocal but it was really just so-so for us. Maybe next time it’ll live up to the hype!

You know when somewhere you previously loved just isn’t as good as you remembered? If so, you’ll know it’s a bummer of a feeling to leave one of your favourite businesses disappointed, and you’ll know how I felt today. For a while, Toast was my go-to for brunch. Today was just the day for brunch; a Friday with no work. What better way to celebrate the start of the weekend than with eggs on toast/pancakes and bacon/your delicious brunchy food of choice. Nothing says TGIF more than breakfast food at lunchtime. And so, Toast it was. Whilst the food was out fast, I have to say I was a tad disappointed. I had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with wholemeal toast. I say ‘with’ and not ‘on’ because the scrambled eggs and salmon were just beside the toast and not on top of it. I would have loved for the eggs and salmon to be mixed and on top of the toast but it was all on the plate separately. The eggs were visibly runny and greasy. Whilst it tasted better than it looked, I couldn’t help but think that I had made better myself just the other day. It just wasn’t creamy and fluffy in texture like good scrambed eggs should be. The best part was the toast; thick slices of delicious grilled wholemeal bread. Although, the toast wasn’t buttered and butter wasn’t offered. All in all, it wasn’t a particularly bad experience, just nowhere near as good as previous visits. I’m sorry, Toast. — I’m sad to say I think I need to find a new regular brunch spot in Stirling.

Fantastic little eatery! I have been here many times and have yet to be dissapointed. I would say that they specialise in breakfast and brunch but if you are peckish later on in the day this is not a bad place to go. The staff have always been friendly to me and the service is quick.

We’d climbed the Wallace Monument in near-arctic conditions(possibly an exaggeration) and I needed some soul-calming food. With a quick Unilocal search I thought Toast sounded like a winner from Nicola and Jennie’s reviews. It was a real pain to get to though as the bridge over the train line was closed, so we ended up parking in the station carpark and walking. The café has a great view as Jennie mentioned and a cosy atmosphere. We looked over the food menu and I just couldn’t go past the Croque Monsieur which is just what I felt like, and it comes with mushroom on it as well, amazing! Staff were fast and friendly and didn’t seem phased by us ordering and re-ordering more and more drinks(I was totally parched after the climb). We ended up staying close til closing time before venturing off into the wind and cold again. This place was a lovely stop in Stirling and I would venture out of my way to visit here again, especially as the prices were very reasonable.

If you’re looking for a relaxed, welcoming Saturday morning brunch spot then this is your place. Friendly staff, really tasty home-made breakfasts and an interesting variety of sandwiches, it’s always a winner. I come here quite a lot and the menu is so varied that I’ve never had the same thing twice — and I’ve never had anything I wouldn’t happily eat again. I took visitors from Florida here for breakfast before a bit of a road trip up to Perthshire in the summer and one of them couldn’t get over the fact that you could sit at a table and see Stirling Castle out of one window and the Wallace Monument out of the other. So I guess the location is pretty cool too :-)

Always a good choice for a Sunday morning. They have all you would want for a relaxed breakfast, in a nicearmosphere and it is yummy. Staff are usually good and friendly.

Nice little café in Forthside. Great bacon rolls and Tetley tea bags. I like my tea. Nice staff too.
