Went into Bottle with my boyfriend as we decided we needed to explore the Heatons a little more — there are so many great places to eat and drink! I think Bottle has to be one of my favourites, it has a great selection, a good vibe, and great staff. The selection of beers on tap and in the«bottle shop» area was really good. it also has a great selection of cocktails for those people who prefer that, which makes it ideal for getting non-beer loving friends to come out as well. Also a big thumbs up to the man at the bar, who sat through me tasting about 5 beers before finding one I wanted to order without a hint of annoyance. All in all, a great place for a drink, and one of my favourites in Heaton Moor — it’s up against some stiff competition with Heaton Hops and Thom’s Wine Bar but it holds it own!

TL;DR — If you like quality beers and a relaxed vibe, then you’ll love it here. The Heatons has an abundance of indy businesses and bars, and I certainly intend to visit as many of them as possible.(I’m not an alcoholic, I swear!) On this occasion, though, we ventured in to Bottle on Shaw Road. On first impressions, it’s your typical little crafty beer cove. The place isn’t overly big, but there’s seating enough to accommodate you if you’re willing to be patient. Alternatively, you can always share your table with others — which we did, as we had a larger table with surplus chairs, so why not? There’s a very relaxed vibe throughout the place, and it’s incredibly easy to end up chatting to strangers about the merits of your chosen tipple. The selection of beers and wines was great, with several options available on tap and a whole host more available bottled. I’ve developed a bit of a taste for sour beers, which I opted for on this occasion with a sour fruit beer — though sadly I forget the name of the brewery.(Sorry! *hic*) The prices are naturally variable, as with all beer houses like this, but irrespective of whether you’re in the mood to dive in to a pint or perhaps in the mood to sample the variety over the course of several halves you’ll find it’s very reasonable — and certainly good value given the quality of the beers on offer. All in all, a lovely place with great beer, great atmosphere and great staff. I’m sure I’ll be back.

I really wish that bottle shops were as prevalent throughout Greater Manchester as coffee shops are in the city centre — the world would be a much merrier place(in both senses of the word). The residents of Heaton Moor don’t know how good they’ve got it, what with Heaton Hops only a shortish walk away — I’m spearheading a campaign to get somewhere opened here in Sale… I’ve been to Bottle a couple of times now; the first for some beer shopping(huge choice on the shelves) and the second as a drinker, and both were great experiences. It’s run by the owner of High Peak Beer Co. in Stockport Market hall. A former shop, there’s a small seating area in the front backing onto the bar, which features seven keg taps and a very decent bottled beer and cider range. Their small ‘beer garden’ looks to be a work-in-progress(I hope) — at present there are a few pallets to sit on and very little else, but summer never really happened so that’s hardly an issue now we’re fully into autumn. More popular than it has room for(a similar issue to Heaton Hops), it has certainly helped to put the area on the map as a very decent drinking destination.

This is a great little bar in the Heatons. About 7 minutes walk(probably less) from Heaton Chapel train station, it has plenty of seating and plenty of choice. On recent visits, they’ve had Mikkeller and Omnipollo on keg alongside the extensive beer choice. Go go go!

This is a really lovely little place. Small, but there’s enough seating and it doesn’t feel particularly cramped. They have a lot of bottled beer on the shelves and in the fridge, as well as about six beers on tap. On my first trip I went for a ‘strawberry blonde’ from Thornbridge. I can’t remember the proper name for this but it was very delicious. I ended up having three pints. Whoops. It’s not cheap here but no more expensive than you would expect either. I popped back in to get some beers as a thank you gift for a friend. The guy working there was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and was able to help me to select a few nice beers to give as a gift. I really like it here and if I was local I imagine I’d be a regular! As it is, I think I’ll try to pop in when I’m visiting friends in the Heatons.

Bottle(a bottle shop come bar) in Heaton Moor is a nice addition and has already made me visit the area more than before. I’m not really a pub type of person and don’t really enjoy drinking a pint for the sake of it, so its nice to know that i can now jump on my bike and pootle along to Bottle on a sunday lunch for a decent bottle of cider. I say decent as Bottle serve ‘thistly cross’. Not only that though they serve my favourites the whisky cask and ginger versions. AND.(.yes this is a big AND), they also have snyders jalapeño pretzels… which quite frankly are the only reason i ever eat pretzels. The place itself is small, but through a good seating plan can easily accommodate up to 30 people and still feel uncrowded. The shop is positioned towards the back and by the looks of it(see picture) has lots to choose from. whilst i don’t drink beer myself(only cider), i know it must be a good choice as my husband spends ages deciding and has that look of glee in his eye. Its a really nice little place, with great beer, good seating and really friendly staff. I will be returning… often.

Very nice relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic selection of beers to drink in or buy to take away. Only small so not many seats but enough room to stand at the bar until a stool becomes available. Happy people enjoying good beer, not just a bar full of people getting drunk for the hell of it.
