Matalan

I wish I’d had more time to mooch about and bag myself some bargains but we were in a hurry so all I saw was spangly, colourful, exciting ladies clothes that made me sad to leave.
Came here on New Year’s Eve so it was heaving and rightly a bit disorganised, but that all adds to the atmosphere. There are about a million cashiers though so the queues were smaller than I’d have expected for the time of year.
Oh Matalan how I heart thee — I shall return on my next visit to Stoke!

Matalan is a great place to buy cheap clothes and home wares.
They are not quite as cheap places like Primark but the quality is ok. I bought a few cheap suits from there and although they aren’t the best quality, they are fine for work.
Matalan also sell other things as well as clothes such as cushions, coasters, lights etc. The last time I went, they had even started selling a small range of cheap electrical goods such as LCD TV’s and freeview boxes.
The store is well laid out and the staff are helpful. It can get very busy at peak times and the queues can get quite long but they usually have plenty of staff on the tills and they are quite quick so you don’t have to wait long to get served.

There are two Matalan stores in Stoke (the other being in Wolstanton) but this is by far the better one. It’s massive for a start so the range of clothes is fantastic. The clothes are all good quality and affordable. They have a lot of stock too so the size range is always quite good. They also sell decent shoes. This store also stocks home stuff too everything from plates and bowls to picture frames and bathroom accessories. The hidden gem here is the party shop. It’s a one stop shop for all your party needs. They’ve got fancy dress outfits, party bags, balloons, sparklers, cake decorations, and loads more. It’s brilliant! They always sell themed stuff too like Halloween outfits, Christmas decorations, etc. and it is good quality and really reasonably priced too.
