stayed at this pub in a beautiful village with my wife on arrival manager and staff were very friendly. Room was themed on cluedo(prof plums study) loved the bath had all the facilaties that i needed, a great bar with real ales. I enjoyed the peaceful nights sleep due to the quietness of the village and great blackout curtains & shutters. I had thebest homecooked breakfast that Ive eaten in years. We will be coming back especially as they said that we can bring our dogs and they can even arrange dog sitters so we can go out for the day. Excellent!

We ate here one evening and will not do so again as the portions are far too small for the price. We started with pâté and toast which was VERY strong. Neither myself or my partner could eat that. I had risotto and my partner had what was meant to be chicken. It looked more like a quail if that. Portions ridiculous, they cater for borrowers.

this place is fantastic! all the bedrooms are themed with Cludoe characters, we were in Prof. Plums study, which was very purple, including the claw-footed roll-topped bath, in which I bathed by candlelight! Sublime! There was a mini-fridge which was full of sparkling water and a choice of wines, free, gratis, complementary, for nowt! HOW fab is that? Could have only beeen topped by some fresh milk too, for my morning cuppa, but UHT did the trick, and hey, would rather have wine, methinks! We were gob-smacked when charged £1.75 a pint for Stella in the cosy, fire-light bar it’s on offer said the owner. Could this place get any better? Yep, champagne happy hour 6 – 8 o/clock, we had a bottle both nights for under 17 quid each! Happy hour? We were delighted! Then came the food. Gareth, the charming(no, not smarmy) head waiter/manager/bar-man etc. advised me to try the 24 hour belly pork. I can still taste it! It was so delicious. The food was ALL beautiful, thanks to the 2 new chefs! Scallops to start for me, both nights, because they were SOOOOO divine! Breakfast was a proper home-made feast. The beds were soft and dreamy, the rooms clean and tidy, if not quite quirky! Please check out for cut-price offers while things are quiet, we got a real bargain. We will be back as soon as possible. Stratford upon Avon worth the bus ride in too!
