There are many cute cafes lining the streets in Stratford-Upon-Avon. A little tired of pub grub, we decided to go for a restaurant with a view, and the Waterside Brasserie certainly offers that if you sit outside. Part of a hotel, I was a bit skeptical. They had a sign promoting their Sunday live jazz brunch, which has 2 of my favorite things, but alas it was not a Sunday, nor was it brunch-time. We were one of two tables filled outside, but there was a lovely view of the water and a park as well as the shakespeare theater right across from us. The food was a bit on the overpriced side, but that’s what I come to expect from not only a hotel restaurant, but one in the UK. Given that we spent more than we should have, the food was still tasty. I ordered a club sandwich(be aware, Americans, the bacon here is «back bacon» that more closely resemble ham/canadian bacon than our typical US-bacon…not that it’s a bad thing, just something to note). The sandwich was very good. We also got a goat cheese tart salad, and the tarts were delicious. The third entrée was a burger, which while good, was a very unique tasting burger. I think it was due to the intense tomato/ketchup flavor. So all-in-all, come here for the nice outdoor view and some fresh, tasty food, but don’t come here to save money.
