I am so glad that my acquaintances in Swansea suggested Govindas to me during my trip around the UK. An all-you-can-eat, vegetarian Indian place for 4 pounds was a godsend for me. What a great deal. Despite the low price, the food was actually quite good and the Hare Krishna guys who run the place were all really nice. Definitely an asset to Swansea.

Reasonably priced vegetarian café in a quiet Swansea side street. Wholesome filling food but choices and opening hours limited. Swansea’s only completely vegan/vegetarian café though.

A great place for vegetarian food of course — a rarity in Swansea! Really good food, even meat-eaters seem to like it(my 70-odd year old dad loved it!). Really friendly staff(I’ve not noticed it’s slow, though they won’t rush a slow customer), great lassis and fruit salads for surprisingly little cash. All of this is made even better by the ‘credit crunch lunch’s they’ve started doing — £2.99 for an all-you-can-eat main course. The only all-you-can-eat I’ve ever left feeling full but happy and healthy!

I went there with a vegetarian friend and was quietly surprised by the range of foods available. I have to agree with Jane on the service it did seem a bit slow but the quality of the food offset this. I am not a vegetarian but would not hesitate in going back there, Govindas may convert me. Car parking is not a problem and is located in the city centre.

I’m a life-long meat eater, but this is one of very few vegetarian places I’ve ever eaten that I’ve felt provided what felt to me like full meals, rather than just side salads that were missing the beef. With very large quantities, and a wide menu, Govinda’s uses proper Indian recipes and flavours in order to make vegetarian food actually interesting. They have a good range of teas as well, which can be accompanied by cakes that taste a little bit better than they look. It’s got a definite class to it, although it seems to want to be both a posh restaurant and a casual café to cover all bases. The prices are reasonable, and the service is fine. Even if you fancy a beefburger when you’re in Swansea, it might be worth popping round the corner to this place instead.

Govindas is the place to take any vegetarian friends, plus meat eaters to see how good top quality vegetarian food can be. Definitely the place to go when you’re feeling a bit lacking in energy and needing some healthy food and drink to gently nourish you. Freshly squeezed juices are the ideal start to the daily Govinda special which gives you a feast of food including rice and wonderful dahl on the side. Slightly less healthy perhaps are the little fried samosas but they must be tried, so much better than any samosa I’ve had anywhere else. Everything is also available to take away and my only complaint is I wish opening hours were longer.

Delicious vegetarian and vegan meals and a lot of choice. I love the ‘Vegan Special’ and the vegan cheesecake is ‘to die for’ — the best we’ve ever had anywhere. Gorgeous freshly squeezed juices too and soya milk available. Pleasant surroundings too. It has recently become self service although the hot meals are brought over to the table when ready. Service used to be very slow here but had greatly improved when we visited recently, and the new people serving were friendlier than the previous ones, so I am happy to give 5 stars!
