Nice in the day, but not the place it used to be. Caters more to tight t-shirt MDMA gypsy boys than it used to. Was a nice hippy/live music/world music place, but best avoided on the weekend unless you like smelly spaceheads and ear-bursting Drum & Bass or one of its even less palatable analogs e. g: Dubstep.

I went here for the first time last night. I don’t expect Sunday nights to be busy and it wasn’t. Nevertheless, there was a warm, cosy welcome as we entered. Lots of interesting things to look at on the walls. The bar has lots to offer — nice bottled beers like ‘Old Peculier’(I’d never noticed the spelling before last night.) Guinness on tap, unpronounceable beers too. And millionaire’s shortbread available as well. I went to a comedy evening upstairs, with cabaret seating, no less. Good atmosphere — would make a good place for a party. I noticed there is a burlesque night soon on 2 November 2009.

Really nice home made food and very reasonably priced. Good choice for vegetarians as well. Friendly staff. The place has a nice vibe.

Monkey Café is a great place for a night out, it has a really chilled out atmosphere, massive leather sofa’s to drink your favourite drink on! They do a lot of gigs here in a large room upstairs, this place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside! This isn’t just a place to go for a night out it’s also great to go for lunch where you can have toasted sandwiches, soup of the day, they also do really yummy drinks here such as fresh smoothies and milkshakes. Also loads of vegetarian options here and they use organic and local produce. Highly recommended! I also have to say that the prices are great considering how lovely the food is, toasties are under £3!
