I really like The Potters Wheel — it has a real mix of people in there, and has a good vibe. It’s also seriously cheap, and has good real ale.

A good range of well kept cask beers. The locals seem never to go home, and it is known as a hard pub. However, the regulars have proved to be friendly enough and there has never been any trouble there in my own experience. My wife and I actually enjoy going there when we are shopping in town, as it is cheap and it can be a good laugh. Remarkably, it is one of the few pubs where my wife feels safe if she wants to go there on her own whilst she waits for the bus. No one has ever hassled her and the bar staff are always friendly and polite to her/us.

I think this is deaths waiting room, atmosphere sucked every drop of life out of me. Will go here next time i want to feel less happy.

The reason why I would even give this a rating is because of the cheap drinks. The place is a pig sty, the tables are never clean, the toilets are disgusting, its usually full of people who think its a way of life to drink at 8am in the morning. Dirtiest, grubbiest place I have ever had the displeasure of going too. The food is usually either off, on the turn or they run out of what you order. NEVER go there on a Sunday because that is the day when they usually run out of everything. I have had mould and brown gunk on salads, the sunday roast vegetables are microwaved in a bag and even they were off. The previous manager was a godsend and its a shame he has gone

I love potter’s wheel, its a very typical Wetherspoons but it has some sort of charm I can’t describe. It’s quite big, the food is what you’d expect and it has the usual bunch of drinks on sale. One thing I do like is the selection of ale they have, but that’s pretty normal to most Wetherspoons. The only way I can really review this place is in respect to other Wetherspoons, this is a charming, nicely laid out pub with good service, good food(For a Wetherspoons) and a nice atmosphere.

Potters Wheel. The new manager who has recently taken over had stated that it was thanks s to the previous manager that this was one of the best wetherspoons. First and last visit on the 24÷2÷2011 beer stains on the table the fish and chips so dry and tasteless and I am still looking for the cheese and ham in my panini. Although the Carmarthen Weatherspoons isn’t so salubrious they food there is great, Suggest you send your Manager on a course

It’s alright: nothing special. If you’ve been to one spoons, you’ve been to them all, but is one of the better ones. No smoking area, which clearly is an issue for some who’d rather not see us having a civilised chat whilst getting drenched or chilled to the bone and have us rammed up an alley somewhere. I can’t imagine that second hand smoke in an outdoor environment would have any affect on your heath bar a turned up nose and and a scrunched up face. Nice selection of ales, but the gents’ toliets are often ankle deep in effluence and can get quite rowdy on match day. We had a hilariously tiny portion of nachos once from there for about £7, but that’s a different story for a different time.

Friday night at the Potters is an institution. It is perfectly acceptable to go in, order a cocktail pitcher, decline any glasses and just shove a handful of straws in it — the staff have come to expect this. As well as being the pre-Sin City/Vice pub, it’s full of what I presume are their regular customers so there’s always an atmosphere going. The food is the usual you’d expect from a Wetherspoons, as are the drink prices. I always make sure I visit, on a Friday night, when I’m home.

Great for students! Cheap and nice tasting food, comfy seats, dead during the day time so no wait for tables. Also a great place to start a night out. Cheap drinks. Friendly staff and parons. Dont think ive ever seen a fight break out there!(A rarity in Swansea lol). I agree with the other review of the smokers getting in the way of the door. But that cant be helped by the pub itself really, which is a shame. Cheap, cheerfull and friendly… whats not to like?

A good branch of this chain which is much better than the other Wetherspoon in the city(The Bank), being cleaner and in better condition indoors.(Also the toilets aren’t miles away upstairs through countless corridors and doors but at sensible ground level!) A good selection of beer on offer including Tuborg, Marsdens, Carlsberg, Ruddles, John Smiths and Guinness. The house wine is a lovely Merlot. There is varied seating throughout the pub, from wooden chairs with tables to nice alcoves. You can eat anywhere but there is a special dining area on the right as you go in, a bit similar to the Wetherspoon at Bridgend. The Curry Club on Thursdays is recommended — prices are much lower than other days of the week and there is a wonderful variety of meals to choose from at all times — great for vegetarians too; there are even choices for vegans(I recommend the chick pea curry with extra poppadoms instead of naan bread). Lovely inexpensive desserts and good coffee as well! We were served by Ben yesterday, who was really nice — but I also spoke to two other members of staff who brought the food and they were friendly and very helpful. We’ll definitely eat there again the next time we’re in Swansea.

Since the smoking ban in public houses was enforced, patrons of the Potters wheel tend to conjugate outside making non smokers run the gauntlet of second hand smoke before going into the pub. Prices as you would expect from a major chain are competitive and the public house offers one of the cheapest cups of coffee in Swansea, that’s if you can get a seat and table first. Often you face lengthy waits for food and when it does come I find it less than average and have stopped going there despite it being cheap. Save your hard earned £££ and go somewhere else.

The Potters Wheel is part of the whetherspoon chain. It has special offers all the time and a pretty good menu. Although it tends to sometimes attract the usual bunch who drink at cheaper pubs it has a seperate section for food which is pretty popular. I definitely recommend going on a thursday for the curry deal as it’s really good value and the curries are tasty :)
