Can you give a star just for the name of the pub? If you’re at the marina in Swansea, stop in here for a nice, relaxing drink. The view is lovely and the prices are reasonable, if not cheap. I didn’t see very much choice for guest ales. I did take a look at the food menu, as I was curious. Cheap, but nothing super surprising on their. Standard pub fare. You can sit outside, but if you choose to sit inside, there are plenty of windows so you can see out. Overall, just a nice little place.

I agree with Alfaholic’s review. This is a pub that is well past its prime. Good location, right next to the marina, nice staff, but it’s tatty and the real ale has been terrible the last two times I’ve visited. Today’s guest ale was Butcombe but it was sour and I had to take it back. The other hand pump was off, so I had to make do with some Brains cream flow somethingorother which tasted metallic. I don’t think that they sell enough of it, and it must sit in the pipes. And at £4.80 for a pint and a half, it’s not exactly cheap either. If you want decent beer, head round the corner to the Queens Hotel by Swansea Museum(avoiding the Pump House). I haven’t summoned up the courage to try the food, but judging by the smell in the pub, most of it is fried. Such a shame it could be a great place.

Sadly, I think this Pub is now, well past its prime. It was a great place to drink /eat in the late 80s and through the 90s, and was often totally packed all day long. But since it was sold by Ansells, and went to a tenancy, it has had many guises, some of them good, some of them poor. I agree its staff are very pleasant nowdays, and we often pop in when strolling around the Marina, but the benches outside really tell the story of a run down Pub overall, and I don’t think the décor inside has changed much in the last 10 Years either. Not a bad Pub, just a shame its so quiet nowdays, as its in a lovely spot in the Marina… Ironically, since I wrote my original review, they now have quite a few NEW tables outside this Pub, as we called in here this afternoon, and I found it quite ironic seeing all those new tables there. Very quiet again, but still pleasant sitting outside, watching people strolling by, and overlooking the boats and water there.

You certainly won’t stumble on this place by accident, we fetched up on a quiet Thursday night and got a friendly welcome. The food was a bit limited at the time we arrived but arrived quickly enough. Quite a lot of space in side this modern pub, shame that they only had Doom Bar on draught, but it was decent enough. Definitely a good alternative to eating in the nearby Marriott hotel if you’re there for the night…
