Do you want amazing food in an extremely friendly, informal high-end restaurant? Then you must absolutely go to Gorton’s in Tavistock. Gorton’s isn’t large(only 25 covers) but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality, décor and atmosphere. They’ve recently opened a garden terrace so if and when the sun shines in Devon, make tracks to Gorton’s! On the day we ate at Gorton’s(our first of many future visits when we come to Devon), we had ginger proseccos(yum) and followed by: a salmon terrine with scallops followed by a Duck confit with blackberries and a port sauce a twice baked goats cheese soufflé on puff pastry disc with tomato and onion confit followed by grilled pollock with squid and mussels in a lovely cream sauce We had Ginger sponge pudding with caramelised apples and clotted cream ice cream as our pudding. It was all absolutely delicious! Celebrity Head Chef and Proprietor Peter Gorton has many years of Michelin Star experience and only uses locally sourced meat and vegetables.
