We weren’t planning on coming to the Kings Arms Inn but, travelling home on the A30, we were hungry and saw signs to the place which led us to Tedburn St Mary.
Externally, the pub is well presented to the front with hanging baskets and plenty of flowers in bloom. There’s a small carpark to the side.
Inside, we ordered drinks at the bar. We said we wanted to eat, and started looking for a table, but a waiter quickly appeared and led us to a table where he wanted us to sit. We were then presented with huge A3 size menus to ponder what we wanted. Everything here seems to be available in two sizes, small or large, and prices reflect this.
The food itself was adequate. The Sunday carvery was a choice of three meats, a very dry looking joint of beef, turkey and pork. When this is on the plate, there’s a choice of various boiled, canteen style, vegetables to choose from such as peas, carrots, etc.
Apart from the very enthusiastic waiter, the staff here were frosty and we felt unwelcome to the point where we couldn’t wait to leave. If you’re thinking of coming here then check out reviews on Trip Advisor first. There’s some interesting comments.
