Nice country pub, decent food, good service, hands down a gorgeous location. A must visit for the beautiful setting. Cockington is a quaint and beautiful little village, the pub a typical example of a country pub ‘come’ restaurant. Part of the Vintage Inns Company, they market themselves on being cosy country pubs and restaurants. The large spacious rooms and comfy nooks and crannies at the Drum are definitely inviting and a decent pub garden always scores bonus points from me. After having dinner here on the Friday night, we returned on the Sunday for the Roast dinner. Two visits in a three day break is my glowing recommendation, the roast on the Sunday outdid the cod and chips I had on the Friday and the pub was a lot busier, according to our waiter the Sunday roast is what they’re famous for.

Set in the beautiful Cockington Village, The Drum has so much potential. Yet for the last 6 or 7 years it’s just been a bit«meh». Not quite anything other than standard. Standard menu choices(though this does seem to have changed a little recently), standard service and occasional long waits without prior warning. The prices are average as well as the beer. The only truly outstanding place about this English country pub is the surroundings. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good, but just a little disappointing for where you are — the scenery sets your expectations high. That being said, if you know what you’re getting this place wont disappoint too much and you should definitely finish your visit with a walk around the grounds.

Beautiful setting in Cockington. Traditional pub with non traditional choices as well as the usual. Large outdoor seating area is comfortable and overlooks a park where kids can run and play. Food is good and well priced if eating before 5:00 pm. They have a one, two or three course option. We had the two course option for £10 – a welcome price considering how much eating out costs in many of the tourist towns of Cornwall and Devon. Pictures to come.

Great settings for a pub, good food and service, friendly place, good pub for a pint and a chat unlike alot where you cant hear because its to loud.

Had the best Roast Dinner here on Sunday. Was perfect. Very happy with the food. Roast Lamb, only £7.95. Beautifully cooked with all the right trimmings. Wonderful. The choice on the main menu was very impressive too. Just a shame the lady behind the bar was so miserable!
