Open 6 days a week this is a workman’s favourite in the Stretford area. Fran’s sells hot snacks including good old cheese on toast and chip barms and I am informed the the preference amongst builders is the«Millenium» which is 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausages, 1 egg and black pudding on an extra large barm. Who decides on these names? My other half used to go to a greasy spoon and order a belly buster which was 8 sausages on a huge ciabatta loaf. What a pig! Anyway, Fran’s is certainly no greasy spoon It is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. Freshly painted lilac and orange walls cheer you up on rainy days and the ladies who run the café are the friendliest you will ever meet. Sandwiches, jacket potatoes and home made cakes are there to tempt you or if you are feeling continental, Fran’s have an espresso machine and you can pop in for a shot as early as 7.30 during the week to start off your day. It is open until 2pm weekdays and on Saturdays from 8am-midday.
