I have visited this café in the past, when it was dog friendly, but now they say no dogs allowed for health and safety reason that old chestnut when they cannot think of a reason for their actions. I cannot think why dogs would be a health and safety problem, as most people that take their dogs on outings are responsible dog owners. I have yet to see a dog at the table eating out from the crockery I know you can get leptospirosis, hook worm, [by eating animal faeces] lyme disease. All of these are preventable in a dog if given the appropriate medication. But then people in the café are not going to get that close to your dog!!! As I said in the beginning irresponsible owners rarely take their dog on a family outing. We have dog friendly pubs and they inform me this has not affected their ratings. All three of my toy dogs are up to date with their vaccinations and also on advocate and drontal, I will not leave my Chihuahua’s outside while I order and also do not want to sit outside in this inclement weather. I believe you are more likely to catch something from the nearest child with a cold or coughing. The last time I went to the café two parents were sat with their five children and one had chicken pox and that is a highly contagious disease but the staff were happy for them to stay and eat. I think I will stick to the doggy friendly pubs.

I had previously visited this café several years ago and like the last reviewer was also disappointed that it has gone down in quality. The coffee was lukewarm and poor quality, but worst of all were their famous fruit scones. The scones were uncooked and stodgy. To their credit they did offer a replacement cake, but the quality of this cake was equally poor. For the price we paid, I would have expected much better quality. It is a shame that they have a prime location and take advantage of people.

I THINKTHEBUSINESSHAS a lot to learn! The no dogs rule is ridiculous when you consider the area and the food is on the way down. The owner is obviously out of his or her depth and needs training on using good quality ingredients, to keep the standards high! This brings people back who will pay a slight premium, not Tesco Value produce.

This tearoom is like a little mini restaurant, a lovely location in-between a reservoir and a lock on a canal. We went there for lunch the rest of the group had lamb-shank which were done just right, fish and chips were good, and a jacket potato was really well cooked. Unfortunately my macaroni-cheese had over-done pasta, lumpy sauce an under-done top. The tearoom was clean modern and well presented. The two communal toilets were also clean if a little rough around the edges, having a changing table was very welcome, though it was missing a strap and was placed in such a was as as you changed the baby the hand dryer kept turning on and off! It also sells ice-cream and yummy looking cakes and all in all is recommended and the cherry on the cake afterwards was going to watch boats using the lock.
