At the first sight of the big yellow thing in the sky, us Scots all do the same thing — head to the beach. On one of our recent ‘taps aff Tuedays’ we done just that, and made our way to Troon for some lunch with a view. Normally we would visit the Wee Hurrie, where you can often see the seals splashing about at the harbour. As usual on a sunny day, the place was queued out the door so we settled for lunch at Scott’s. Scott’s is located slap bang in the middle of a boat yard. There is some impressive scenery if your lucky enough to bag a window table, which look right out onto the sea. Given that Scott’s is so close to the sea, the fish can practically jump onto the plate — seafood was the obvious choice of the day. I chose to start with the Lobster risotto. Having never tried it, I was excited for my first lobster experience. The risotto arrived in a small silver bowl adorned with cress and smelt immediately of the sea. The rice itself was lovely and rich and flavoursome, but the lobster was a disappointment. It was stringy and chewy, with next to no flavour. Having heard people rave about how soft and sweet lobster is, I was totally underwhelmed. I thought that one thing a seaside restaurant definitely can’t get wrong is good old fish and chips. Troon is renowned for fish & chips, and a higher end restaurant like Scott’s should have this to a fine art. I found the fish to be nice and flaky but the batter was mainly soggy, with bog standard frozen chips. It was ok, just a bit lacklustre for a place directly on the seafront. For impressive views and a few drinks, Scott’s is an ideal location. For food, however, I think I’d rather a chippy and a walk on the beach.

Nice place divided in different areas, bar, restaurant, restaurant in the terrace. The restaurant is located in front of Troon marina. If you eat on the terrace you could have a lovely view on the boats. Local beers and ales in the restaurant with a good variety of dishes(local as well as international). 25% discount on steaks every Tuesday. Ideal for groso. Booking is strongly advised. Credit card accepted

I really do love this place! Such a beautiful spot with lovely views and equally lovely food! Start to finish the service is fantastic… always there when you need them but not too overly attentive. I opted for the thai chicken with basmati rice and vegetables. Although a little creamy for my fussy tastebuds, the flavours were great and the chicken was cooked to perfection. My partner had the steak and substituted the wedges for potatoes(we’re on a bit of a health kick… so no deserts either *sigh*!)…medium rare, again cooked perfectly. Lovely atmosphere for groups, family’s and couples, would definitely recommend!

So I win best daughter award for introducing this place to my family. I took a trip down to Scott’s for my dads 60th birthday and it did not disappoint. First up we were 30 mins early for our booking and when we arrive it was very busy, I was expecting to wait. We made our way to the bar however within 5 mins we got our table! Down to the best bit! I had to start the Haggis Neeps and Tatties, just amazing! For mains I had the stuffed chicken with chorizo and cream cheese! This was full of flavor and the chicken wasn’t the slightest bit dry! We took along a birthday cake the staff happily brought it out with a massive sparkler on it! Served up with some Matthew Algie Coffee. The location if Scott’s is cool, it sits on the Yacht Haven of Troon and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I really like it here!

5 star food, service and location. We made our way down to Troon on Saturday for my father in laws 60th birthday lunch and we had a fantastic meal. The location is excellent with great views of all the boats docked at the marina. The service was some of the most friendly and welcoming that I have experienced in a long time. On the drinks front they had a good selection of beers such as Arran blonde bottles and Bitter and Twisted on draught. Coffee wise they have Matthew Algie as their supplier. On to the food, for starters I had Cullen skink and it was really good. It was served in a pan with bread and butter on the side and the great presentation really added something extra to a lovely tasting soup. For mains I had the fish stew which was a huge portion that again was served with bread. It had mussels, salmon, squid, prawns and mackerel in it. For dessert they brought out the birthday cake that we had brought, but they added a huge sparkler to it which was a great touch. This place is a bit out of Glasgow, but for a special occasion I would really recommend it. The service was excellent and the food was awesome. Perfect for a special family dinner or if you fancy venturing out of Glasgow in a trip to the seaside.

I used to work here when I was at school(many many years ago when it was The Lookout) but boy it didn’t look anything as nice then as it does now. It was beautifully done up a few years ago with a lovely restaurant and a very pleasant bar area both with great views of all the posh yachts in Troon Marina. The food is consistently good(we go here a lot as it’s my parents’ favourite place for a family dinner) and while I think it’s a wee bit expensive for what you get, I can’t complain because my dad always pays ;-) They do a good range of sea food and although it doesn’t hold a candle to the fish and chips out the Wee Hurrie at Troon Harbour, it’s always very good. The sharing platters are great if you want to try a few different things and you get tons of food on them — we had two between six of us as a starter and it was plenty. The staff are always super polite and friendly too — much nicer than they were in my day!

Scott’s Bar and Restaurant, one of the restaurants owned by the Buzzworks company, is one of my all time favourite restaurants. Situated at the Troon Yacht Haven, this restaurant has of the most breathtaking views, and a menu to match. I generally speaking always order seafood when I’m here as its fresh, beautifully prepared and their dishes are so full of flavor and flair. I’ve tried steak and other dishes, and seafood isn’t all they’re good at. The service you’ll receive is second to none — there is nothing that is too much hassle. I’d recommend Scott’s to anyone — if fresh, local Scottish good food is what you’re after then Scott’s is your place! Please see my full review(s) on House of Herby where I have photographs and commentary on individual dishes.

Consistently good cocktails and food. I’ve never had any complaints about Scotts and the view over Troon Harbour is amazing. Tables in the bar on the covered porch are just as good as the restaurant and has the exact same menu. The view itself is reason enough to take visitors but the food won’t disappoint either.

Scotts restaurant is in a nice location overlooking Troon yacht haven. There are several different areas, and the pricing is a little dear but the food is good so justifiable. I decided to try the early-evening(5 – 6:30pm Sun-Fri, 5−6pm Sat) special offer of 2 selected courses from £9.95. I had pan fried garlic mushrooms with white wine cream, bacon, cheese glaze followed by pan fried breast of chicken with traditional haggis, red wine jus and some vegetables: both were very good. The evening menu can be quite a lot more expensive with starters £5−13 and mains £11−30 per head. Be warned several times I’ve found that other diner’s choice to bring their children tends to spoil the atmosphere: more like a crèche than a restaurant, so if that annoys you the I suggest you book a table in the restaurant and perhaps eat later. The best food I’ve met in Troon, with a great location and plenty of parking nearby: recommended

say what? how can this place have only 3 stars? this is really unfair! it is such a lovely place, in a lovely location and lovely staff but most of all great sea food! my god we had the biggest sea food selection i forgot its name but i remember it was £55. the plate had salmon, sea bass, prawns in a creamy delicious sauce and a little bit of lobster with prawns in another sauce, mussels in garlic creamy sauce and finally steamed rice to be eaten with the sauce! ahhh im hungry remembering it :(

Scotts is my favourite local place to grab a high quality bite — whether it be for brunch, lunch or dinner. You can’t beat the location if you like to be around boats, especially on summer evenings with a late sunset. Service is not consistently great and does let the place down a bit, but the staff tend to have a good attitude at least. I had dinner there last night and had a starter of whole prawns with garlic mayonnaise dip, followed by baked halibut and langoustine in a subtle vanilla sauce. The seafood was incredibly fresh. I thought the kitchen served it perfectly: cooking it just enough, and not overwhelming the natural flavours with heavy sauce. It melted in my mouth. We spent just over £50 for the two of us, including a glass of champagne. I must give honourable mention to the«light breakfast» of an egg, toast, bacon and sausage, which is a rather reasonable £3 and means 9am sunday brunches with my toddler son never cost more than a fiver!

I agree with gillscald79, I’m surprised at the other two negative reviews. I have been to Scotts several times for both lunch and dinner and always find the food and service to be excellent. Price-wise, although not particulary cheap I think the charges are reasonable for what you get and this doesn’t put me off. The staff are very friendly and professional and great with young kids. I have recommended Scotts to lots of friends and family and never heard of anyone who didn’t enjoy it as much as myself.

Ordered food from the bar menu which is quite extensive(maybe too large). The food was ok and the service friendly. I think that it is over rated and priced. The view is nice enough but it doesn’t justify the premium price as the food is mediocre. They may should cut the menu back and concentrate on quality which would then justify their prices.

pricey, poncey nosh. all you pay for is the view and at £50 for 2 starters and mains– without wine, it’s not that great a view. highly disappointing and the chef wouldn’t even meet dietary requirements!
