The only reason I give this place 1 star is the previous orders I’ve had which were ok, the reason for the review is the ridiculous time it took for delivery. I am ok with waiting for good food and knowing that I’ve ordered on the Saturday of Valentines weekend I was understood there would be a bit of a wait — I wasn’t expecting to be told an hour but fair enough. An hour and twenty minutes later and no sign of my food so I called, only to be met with assurances that the delivery driver was out on his way already. Seeing as I only live 5−10mins from the restaurant I was hopeful that my food was imminent. It was a further twenty minutes until I received my lukewarm and barely edible food from a delivery driver who couldn’t give a monkeys about how long I’d been waiting for my food. Don’t bother ordering from Tale of Spice if you actually want to eat the food you’ve ordered. An utter waste of time and money and a complete disappointment.

Not a great night. Staff were polite and professional. Everything was clean and well presented. The food didn’t taste all that great and we were rushed through so quickly, that we didn’t really feel that welcome; we were in and out in just over an hour. There were popadums on the table, before we had even ordered and the starter was on the table before we had finished the popadums and so it went on.

My favourite Indian in Trowbridge. The dishes contain so much more meat than a lot of other Indians I’ve had. They do takeaway and have a restuarant. The takeaway is always busy, but if you phone it’s usually 20 minutes. The service in the restaurant is good, although it’s a little small inside.

This is a busy and friendly indian with a typical, if unexciting menu. This extends to the food; nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary either. Slow service when full and slightly clinical inside with a tendency to pack in too many tables too close together. I must brave a trip back to the sticky Moghul instead !

I’ve eaten at Tale of Spice a few times now and I’m sorry but I just don’t see what everybody else in Trowbridge sees in this place. True, I’ve never had bad service or poor food here, but then I could say that about every Indian restaurant I have ever been to(excepting the Pria in Bath). It just doesn’t feel right; there is no ‘Indian’ atmosphere. There is something very eighties about the décor which is more akin to a restaurant serving British/European food(this place used to be a pastel pink Italian restaurant). And pastel pink tablecloths in an Indian restaurant are just wrong! It is not just the place itself though, the food is distinctly average too, and the portion sizes are smaller than average. If you want traditional Indian go to the Mogul and if you want contemporary Indian, go to Aaliyah in Staverton. As I said, there is nothing with this Indian I just think there are much better places.

If you love good indian food then this is a must for you. They offer stay in or takeaway either choice is good. The food is excellent and the sevice is second to none.
