Don the bartender was knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Tour was great. Quality of the beer is top notch esp. Betty Stogs & Ginger Tosser. Looking forward to our next trip to the UK so I can share Skinners with my family.

Realised how near the brewery I was when killing time in a local pub. There was a map on the barmat! So I set off with aforementioned barmat and located the brewery. It did tours, but there was over an hour to wait until the next tour so I decided not to bother. I was about to leave when I noticed a bar, so I wondered in. Turns out the bar is for employees and people taking the tour only, but I could sit there and quaff while I waited to be shown around. Enjoyed the excellent Spriggan Ale and Figgy’s brew, which you generally don’t see outside the brewery and they are mixed together to make their ale for which pubs can choose the name(such as the Kiddlywink found at Old Ale House). Their beer really is good. You can see why Betty Stogs has won awards. So in the end I had a short tour(it’s a small brewery, it only takes 15 minutes) and an hour of drinking either side. Definitely worth the £6.50 I paid. They have a shop too, but beer is a rather heavy souvenir. I’d probably have drunk it on the way home.
