Now this is how you do roast dinners. When you’re rambling around the Corfe area you have a choice of stop offs to rest your feet and I’m glad we chose here. We booked in advance as with most old places it’s on the small side, but it does have a covered beer garden for warmer days. One reason this placed gets packed out is the locally sourced Sunday roast. The meat and the veg come from within 3 miles of the pub and the gravy comes straight from the stock pot making it a real taste of Dorset. It’s also very generous in portion and price. Another selling point is the friendly husband and wife team running the show. They have a warm humour and great rapport which gives the pub its homely atmosphere. It does come with a dash of eccentricity. The low original ceiling was covered in multi-coloured fairy lights and that combined with the choral music playing made it feel like eternal Christmas. I’m not complaining. I love Christmas! I’ll definitely be back to taste the rest of the menu. Well not all of it at the same time, but there was certainly a Steak & Ale Pie with my name on it.
