The food here is great value and has quality too. A very good range of drinks are also available.

sorry bluebell but you have gone downhill badly. The food was AWFUL very cheap frozen pizzas and the salad on my neices plate was revolting, dry and the cucumber had very clearly been taken off another customers left over food plate or the shrivelled up old end slice. I tried to complain but the member of staff serving at the bar was so busy I couldnt grab his attention so decided just to leave and mention the food issue on here instead. what type of chef(or serving staff) put this on a table in front of people and dont look at it first!?) I wouldn’t cook that crap at home for an enemy, let alone customers that you may want to return. Wont be returning obviously, always lots of fairly drunk people sitting outside which is very off putting when you walk past or decide to go inside.

We find this an easy spot to stop at after some retail therapy. The food isn’t always great, its a bit hit and miss, but it has its good days. £3 for a glass of red wine is a bit steep in my mind when you can buy a nice bottle for £5-£6 in the supermarkets. but I don’t go to pubs much so maybe this is the norm now! Good points are its handy, but not to dark, you can sit by a window if you like to watch the world go by or in another part of the pub for a more private area to sit and chat/eat in.

A rather variable pub. We have spent some excellent lunchtimes here, with excellent food and good real ale. owever, the last time I went, albeit at nighttime, there was no real ale on and the service was not really good enough. Unfortunately, it was for a CAMRA meeting and we adjurned to another place immediately after the meeting. I am hoping this was a one-off as it is a very interesting pub, with nooks and crannies — mostly gone in the renovations of the 70’s and 80’s! New owner earlier this year may make a difference to real ale availability as he has also taken over the Lower Angel –often talked about in awe, due to the number of guest ales. Just realised this pub has two entries — Owner has now declared it is closing, but it’s really a wait-and-see situation as he’s informed the darts league, CAMRA etc that their meetings will be cancelled, but is still serving food and beer.

A classic Warrington pub set in a lovely old building, manditory picnic tables out the front and a diverse crowd of locals. I believe they do hold various events there but I’ve only been in the afternoon recently so I can’t comment on it. It is another homely looking, maze type pub with numerous reasonably comfortable nooks in which to sit. However, for the area the prices aren’t too good and last time we went my husband ended up with ‘matter’ floating in his Stella, so maybe steer away from that and stick to the Carling, that looked OK. My glass of wine was also a little warm so I don’t think their fridges are up to much, which is a poor show for the price. Mind you, I suppose I was lucky they did wine at all!
