There’s nothing like being the first to speak. It was getting late and with nearby supermarkets closing early on a Sunday night, we had to revert to the naughtiness that is a takeaway. As I found myself in Wembley, I was fairly sure that the only sensible cuisine to indulge in is a strong curry of some sort. The choices were plentiful. My criteria for choosing a takeaway were three-fold: 1. They had to deliver to the flat for free. 2. They had to have an aubergine dish. 3. They had to have a solid hygiene rating(3+) The Royals satisfied the criteria and so won the bid. In fact, the had a hygiene rating of 5(last examined in 2011, mind). I called them up and ordered: Begun Bhaji(Aubergine with onions and tomatoes), Sag Aloo(Spinach and Potatoes), Lamb Jalfrezi(Friggin’ awesome is what). Got some Pilau Rice and A Peshwari Naan to boot. Lamb Jalfrezi was on point, I love this stuff generally, but the curry was absolutely great, I guess it was a bit curry shy(code for: not enough), but there were plenty of pieces of chunky lamb and fresh chilli, this hit the spot for me. The Begun Bhaji was also delightful, but only complaint would be that it was a tad oily, but it’s forgivable, I wasn’t looking or paying for gourmet or healthy food. The Peshwari Naan was crammed with coconut shavings and we like that here. I guess a couple of downsides dropped the last star for me, but this is just my preference: 1. The spinach in the sag aloo was from a can — it was far too mushy and tasteless. 2. Again, the sag aloo, the potatoes were waxy, which is fine if it were cooked for longer, but they weren’t. 3. Pilau rice was a bit boring, but what did I expect, eh? Anyway, thank you The Royals, was a solid meal all for £19.80 and a lunchbox for tomorrow.
