Prima Donnas

Popped in for a quick pre-​Christmas Sunday lunch with friends.
Considering it was the Sunday before Christmas, we were lucky to get a table for four mid-​day about four days before the booking.
£19.95 for a three course lunch with pretty good options. The majority of the table ended up with butternut squash soup (excellent) roast beef roast with veggies and crème brûlée. The roast orders came with a mountain of veggies for the table to share. We didn’t even make a dent in it!
For a last minute, low-​key place outside of London it worked well, and it was packed full of families seeming to celebrate birthdays and Christmas, so it must be well known and reliable.
Good quality and quantity for the prices, good service. Solid 3 stars.

Came here for an early dinner on a Monday night. Restaurant was empty as you might expect. It’s a very large room with quite nicely presented tables. I started with the black tagliatelle with seafood which was a perfectly judged dish in terms of size and flavour. My companions had the crab salad and the veal meatballs, both of which were expressed to be good. I then had the beef fillet which was a well seasoned, good quality meat, cooked as it should be. The rack of lamb was unfortunately overpowered by a strong sauce. I had the hazelnut praline which was tasteless. The Eton Mess was not much better. From a promising start, the puddings were a let down, but all in all, a solid 3.

great service, great food and great atmosphere. Have been a few times now, for special occasions.

Really good food and lovely atmosphere, although expensive. Food fresh with generous portions. Service is always good. Weekends can be lively with birthday parties and loadsamoney types.
