whitstable beach

I stay on Island Wall with my best friend
& so I’ve watched these marvellous sunsets
for about 20 years. The Neptune pub is fun

Whitstable beach is one my favourite beaches in Britain. It’s part of a great town that doesn’t feel like some other UK seaside towns ie all gift shops and tea rooms but no real substance. Whitstable feels like a real place, where families live, they shop and they go down to the beach to swim, windsurf or sail. it’s a pebble beach with groynes, part of it is safe to swim off and you can sit on the other part and watch the yacht club members come and go. If you’re going down for the day or the weekend you can book courses to learnt to sail or windsurf and there are lots of places to eat and drink along the beach. You can buy oysters for 50p each, served on paper plates of ice with lemons, fish and chips and ice cream, it’s all cheap and all very good.

One of the best beaches in the uk, it may not be sandy and its may not be filled with romantic sand dunes, there may not be a prom and there is very few ice creams around but this beach is special in many ways.
It feels very old fashioned and very family friendly. Theres so much to do you can learn to sail or windsurf, you can stroll along the shore, and venture into the small town and sample of the many quaint gift shops ar one of the delicious tea rooms that do fantastic tasty cakes… try tea and times.
The beach is lined with cute beach huts that sell for as much as houses in some towns but whitstable is famous for them, The choice of places to eat nearby is vast there the oyster reastaurant onthe beach which is the obvious choice and well worth while.
The only downside is that it has suffered recently from a london overspill but you can avoid this if you visit in winter, the cold and dark weather somehow adds to the charm of this beautiful place.
