Given it’s listing, you’d be forgiven for thinking Windy Corner is solely a corner store. Sure, you can pick up your gourmet and some organic groceries here, but most locals come to use it’s wonderful café. Set 2 minutes back from Whitstable beach, Windy Corner is the perfect place or Sunday Brunch(or weekday lunch or coffees). Furnished with antique furniture, the whole cafè feels like your granny’s kitchen. The food itself is mostly sourced from local producers and they have an artisan baker who uses the café after hours and supplies the bread. The menu is constantly changing depending on what the staff have felt like cooking, but if it can be made from what they stock, they can make it for you. Having been a while since I’ve been here the pricing is not as great as it used to be. £4 used to get you a large portion of poached eggs on toast with 2 thick slices of artisan bread and 3 perfectly poached eggs. Today I got 1 slice and 2 eggs for the same price. The other portions of things like lasagne and such seemed unchanged. Despite my minor gripe this is still a fantastic little place to go for a lunch or a coffee in whitstable.

This place is really great. A little convenience store /café that serves hot and cold food. It has a great vibe, relaxed, homely & inspiring. The chocolate brownies are heavenly and the food is really, really good. Without a doubt, my favourite place to eat lunch or to have a coffee in Whitstable.

The Windy Stores have recently had a refit and now offer hot and cold drinks and a place to watch the world go by. This store also offers a range of continental groceries and the mystery drawer of childre’s sweets.
