We came here today and it was very busy. Service was good and the food came quickly but the food was not great value for money unfortunately. The portion wasn’t great for the money and it was just pretty average. If I’d paid half the price in a chain pub, fine, but I would have expected a little more here.

Very good and fine restaurant, even for French peoples !
Quality and quanties in the plates.
I recommend the «Pouilly Fumé» white wine with fish based food. Expensive but delicious!
Just one remark: salad dressing (olive based vinaigrette) should be offered in a separate cup.

Great restaurant, captures the essence of a small town. Great food and dessert choices. We enjoyed the wine too. Fairly packed for a Monday night. I thought about giving the coffee a shot too, but was too full to put anything else in my tummy.

Pros:
Friendly staff
Good food
Breakfast was excellent
Well appointed rooms
Very central to Winchester
Cons:
Noisy from bar downstairs until 11.30pm. This is not the B&B to stay at if you are an early-to-bed person and/or a light sleeper.
Room got quite hot at night, even with the radiator turned down all the way. Windows don’t open.

Enjoying our third stay at The Old Vine — trying out a different room each time. The staff are low key, but very friendly and accommodating. Each room is very well appointed with antique furniture, good linens and a strong WiFi connection. Parking is a challenge but the hotel staff are full of good advice and they give you a temporary parking permit. You are steps away from the Cathedral and all of the quaint shops and buildings in the buzzy but vehicle free central area of Winchester. Once you have parked you don’t need your car to enjoy the best of the city.
The Nina Campbell room has quite a good sized round table that we are using to work from. Highly recommended.

We are loving it here! The rooms (there are five and we’ve booked two of them for a party of five) are charming and comfortable, like staying in a home rather than a hotel, and the bathrooms are modern and spacious. The staff is truly welcoming and the service excellent. It’s centrally located near the cathedral, and it’s restaurant and pub are one of the best in the area, for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Highly recommend.

This is a beautiful place for lunch, extensive menu, a table over looking an ancient cobbled square and the backdrop of Winchester cathedral. Tiny bit more expensive than im used to but well worth it.

Stayed at the Old Vine August 2010 (a bit delayed writing this review) and loved it — absolutely my favorite stop of our UK visit.
We arrived later than expected as our flight was delayed; we called ahead and the staff were happy to accommodate a late check in, sent sandwiches and a bottle of wine up to our room. The room was so spacious, beautifully designed, and comfortable. The bathroom was a modern surprise to counter the historical integrity of the room.
Food at the pub was good, not great, but the service and atmosphere definitely made up for it. We had breakfast served in our room one morning and ate downstairs the next — both meals were phenomenal. Love that there is the option to enjoy your coffee at a table in your room overlooking Winchester Cathedral while still in a robe.

We stayed in the top floor room for two nights and had dinner one night in the restaurant. The room was fantastic and much cheaper than similar ones I’ve stayed in like hotel du vin. Quality sheets, lots of heating, comfy chairs, good flat screen telly with freeview. Also nice outlook over beautiful square and a peek at the cathedral.
The food at dinner was great. Varied menu. Good wine specials.
The hotel staff were super efficient ad friendly. One of the best places I have stayed in England.
