Really? Showed up at 6:04 on a Friday. Ordered beer at bar and sat down. Looked at menu, waitress came over and said we had to vacate by 7:00. Confused as there was no Reserved sign on the table. She said if we ordered immediately, we might have everything on our table by time to eat and leave. I said I didn’t want to be rushed. She said, «oh well… please leave the table before 7:00» and walked off. I was floored. A few minutes later another waitress came over and was nicer. She said she could maybe find us another table. I asked why there was no reserved sign on ours. She said that we just need to leave it by 7:00. I said about the other table, she wasn’t sure they had one but if we ordered food, she could«probably» find us one. So we just left.

Went with my wife and 2 young boys on Sunday night. We were sat down quickly and provided with a high chair straight away. The service was very friendly as it always is. We all had the roasts and they were lovely. Unfortunately they were out of yorkshire puddings, however they made up for it with extra potatoes and veg! We’re regulars at the Dutchess and have never been disappointed.

We’re a party of 6 adults, they had plenty of free square tables but chose to squeeze us in the middle of the room. Service was mediocre, we had to chase for our check to pay & leave. Food was ok. But it was the poor customer service that brought this review to 2.5 stars. Definitely I will not return to this pub.

after building up an appetite from my tour of the windsor castle, we stopped at the Duchess of Cambridge for a bite of the local specialty — the English pie. The pub/restaurant seemed pretty full but the waitress managed to squeeze us into a table for four. There are a large selection of ales, ciders, cocktails, and beers to choose from. The Peroni comes in a massive glass — looks to be about one litre tall. The menu has a range of options from salads to tantalizing appetizers(calamari with house made aioli, chicken popcorn) to burgers and of course pies. The options for pies included duck and mushroom pie(includes red wine gravy), chicken and ham pie, steak and ale pie and a fish pie(prawns, salmon and cod in a creamy white sauce). All pies are £10 and come with steamed veggies and potato mash. I tried the duck and mushroom pie — this pie is smaller than all the other pies and very easy to cut into due to a thin puff pastry. I could barely taste the duck and found the pie lacking flavour. It just tasted salty. The pie comes with a generous helping of mash and veggies. You are guaranteed to be full. I also tried the much larger steak and ale pie. The crust is quite thick and the filling had more red wine gravy than the duck. However again, the pie just tastes salty. The beef is tender. The service is great — our meals arrived quickly and the waitress asked is a few times whether we needed anything and how we found our meals. I wasn’t impressed by the pies but really liked the ambience and the service.

Hey Americans… Just go in, sit down somewhere, flag down a waiter and order your food. Don’t expect AAA service nor AAA food and you won’t be disappointed. I had the salmon salad and my wife had a delicious avocado salad. Service was great and the atmosphere pleasant. I highly recommend this place.

We had our«pub grub» meal at The Duchess of Cambridge after a long day at Windsor Castle. I had the Steak & McMullen Ale Pie and the hubs had Fish Pie. Both were delicious and served steaming hot, something that never happens, at least for me, in the good olé USofA. The service was excellent! It is a pub so it gets lively as the evening goes on.

I chose Duchess of Cambridge based on good Unilocal reviews, but the experience was disappointing. I visited with Hubby on a Sunday afternoon. We called and booked ahead of time, which was a wise choice. We were seated reasonably quickly but then it all went downhill. The service was slow and generally confused. We saw a number of servers running around looking busy, yet we weren’t the only table that was neglected and had annoyed patrons. We finally placed our order, and the food showed up fast, yet the manager served our drinks five minutes after the food showed up. How hard is it to pour a glass of wine right after the order is submitted? The Sunday Roast — roast beef in my case — was average at best. The meat was ok, not great, the veggies were overcooked and the roast potatoes were mushy. It proved challenging flagging the waitstaff so we could pay, so that entailed a visit to the waitstation to settle the bill. It’s a charming-looking pub, but given the poor service and average food I won’t be going back.

Booked on the basis of some good reviews but really quite disappointed. It’s about the service people. Seated quickly then promptly ignored for 10 minutes or so. Finally got a very simple drinks and food order in but those drinks just didn’t arrive. I think about another 10 to 15 minutes lunch came and then as an after thought the waitress thought she should get us out drinks… And now for the food. Went for the roast beef which came out drowned in gravy probably to mask the bland taste and the surprise gristle. Potatoes over roasted and the veggies a bit mushy. The yorkie baked to a crisp. So lost points initially because of the slow drinks service and then another deduction for a poorly executed roast.

Great English pub food(that means a lot of mash, roast meats and heavy stuff!!), nice, friendly service. Drinks are a bit pricey but then it is Windsor… Not one if you like light meals and salads or other healthy foods I’m afraid…

They sat me down at a table at 6:30 pm. After 15 min I went and got a menu myself. After another 10 min I walked to the bar and ordered my own beer. In the meantime they sat people to my left and right, took their orders, and served them their food. You’d think after a while someone would ask if they can take my order, but maybe they’re too worried about missing the little yellow bus that dropped them off for work? Its 7 pm now and I’m done with my beer so going to get up and leave. Obviously, not a place I’d recommend if you actually want service. And I’ve never in my life written a review of any restaurant. Just decided to get on Unilocal to find out where I can go nearby and actually get someone to take my order. I gave them one star because apparently I can’t post with zero stars.

We went here for lunch before going in the castle. The serving is huge that you can go in the castle and walk the long trail before you can go for your next meal. For starters, we had the sausages, pâté and squid — which were perfectly cooked — tender and flavorful. For the mains, I had the duck and mushroom pie, others had the fish pie — both pies had a great filling and crust. My other friend had the duck confit and the other had the steak and ale pie — which were both huge servings so share! I think the only one not to par was the roasted pork belly — it was flavorful but for me, a roast pork belly must have crispy skin. And for dessert, we had the sticky figgy pudding — you have a choice between ice cream or custard. We chose the custard and it was to die for. So everything we ordered were great except the pork belly. And this pub takes reservations! Just go online and they will respond to you within a day. It easily gets full because its right across the Castle so if you are pressed for time, make reservations.
