The food is superb! The staff so very friendly and helpful. A wonderful country inn just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Windsor but close enough to go in and out of Windsor in ten minute cab ride for 9 Pounds. This inn is as charming and lovely as anyone could hope for or imagine! I came across Union Inn on Expedia. I did not know what to expect and took the leap of faith we all do and I cannot say how happy I am that I did. My four day trip was extended to six and the owner and staff took excellent care of me. I started off in Room 9. While quite small, it was comfortable. During the day hours and until 9PM there is a humming from the kitchen below, however, while I notice this it did not effect my sleep or stay. When the owner and staff learned I would be staying longer they graciously moved me to a larger room, room 1, when it became available and I found this to be a lovely accommodation that you don’t find in most places, especially because this is not anything I asked for or expected. There was a review regarding the lack of a mirror in the room. I found this to be true. There is only a mirror in the bathroom. However, when I asked if they had a mirror, I was provided with choices and one was put in my room straight away. Are you seeing what I am seeing here? There is a surprisingly wonderful quality of service here! Union Inn will attend to your needs and requests when appropriate and possible, even those you don’t even know you want or need. The food was amazing. I am one who loves pub food. I love the richness and feel of a meal prepared with care and quality! I cannot say there was one meal that was not delicious. This even kept me in the inn for most meals, as I did not feel I needed to go elsewhere. The service was attentive and pleasant. Again, the food! From the traditional Sunday lunch, of which I chose, what I feel is, the classic roast with potatoes and vegetables, to the melt in your mouth sea bass, to the delightful fish and chips, to the traditional English breakfast the portions were generous and every bite savory, as it should be. The only exception was the steak pie which I found the steak to be somewhat dry and overcooked. This said, I do prefer my steak on the medium rare side, and the meat in pies is cooked and then cooked again or heated. The staff. I cannot say enough about the staff and the hospitality of the inn. I travel alone and sometimes when going into places staff can become standoffish and avoid interacting with their clientele. The moment I stepped into Union Inn, they treated with kindness, were helpful and as friendly as they could be. The owner and his sons were absolutely lovely and provided good spirited conversation. Jamie, who often works the bar at night, was great with conversation and wit! Steph was bubbly and helpful. James who seems to be a Jack of All Trades when it comes to Union was always good for a laugh and a smile and was right there for any request that I had, even anticipating what I wanted before I knew I wanted it. Everyone appeared to take their jobs seriously and were working hard and at the same time were attentive and friendly, making the staff a reason to return for a stop in to say hello and thank you. They even sat through American football, at my request, which is saying quite a bit! I also want to add that the Inn was hosting an anniversary party and as guests of the hotel we were invited to join in the food and fun so we didn’t feel we had to leave and we were able to mix with the local crowd! While I stumbled upon this hidden gem in Windsor, it is definitely a place I would recommend and a place I will be returning on my next trip to England. While the train and Tube will get me back to the inn well after midnight, my team, The Oakland Raiders are playing at Wembley next year as soon as I find out the date, I will be booking my stay at Union Inn. Thank you everyone!

Stayed here for a Friday & Saturday night. Owners only took over 10 weeks ago. Room wasn’t too bad, wooden blind slats were well coated with dust, would have been nice to have a mirror by the dressing table so at least I could have seen to dry my hair. Bathroom had some interesting cracks in the shower cubicle, plug in sink(which resembled a bird bath) had to be pushed down. To let water out you had to claw the plug up with finger nails. Shower was intermittment with the hot water cutting off when we tried to adjust the temperature. Friday evening ate here which wasn’t too bad… partner had prawn cocktail, followed by a steak. I had smoked salmon followed by chicken breast on a bed of spinach with some very greasy fried potatoes. Breakfast on Saturday was good self service with a good selection of cereal & orange juice. I didn’t fancy a cooked breakfast & the chef brought me out a lovely bowl of fresh fruit salad(apple, orange, grapes, strawberry & kiwi fruit). Partner asked for a bacon buttie which was more like a door step… even managed to get mugs for our coffee. Sunday morning breakfast very different as a different chef… bowl of fruit salad that appeared to be mostly apple with a few raspberries added I would say definitley a top up from the previous day. Partner had another bacon buttie which came on wholemeal bread that we thought had been toasted but had no colour which was cut into dainty triangles. It was an ideal location for our visit to Windsor but the owners need to up their game!!!
