Pluses: 1) A big Tesco directly in front of the station(a two-minute walk from the platform). Yeah, that’s about it, really. Minuses: 1) Trains are not frequent enough(typically run on the half-hour), so if you miss your train, well, then I guess you go to the Costa in the adjacent Tesco. 2) Not exactly well-lit as stated in a prior review. I’ve also waited for a train at this station around 10pm and felt a bit unsafe even though I had my OAP German Shorthaired Pointer with me who would have cuddled and snuggled any perpetrator to death if they would have tried to inflict any harm on his beloved mum(me!). 3) Trains that run on this Reading-London Waterloo line are electric versus the diesel tanks that run on the Reading-London Paddington line. Yay, Planet Earth!

#560 As much as the trains are on time and thoroughly efficient here, I am a little turned off at how sparse the place is towards the evening. Despite being there with the boyfriend, I felt uneasy about being only two of five people waiting for the 10:15PM train to Reading, especially as there were no employees in the area and the entrance was completely open. There weren’t even turnstiles at the entrance! At least with a bus station, you’re on a main street with cars driving by and plenty of people around. However, in this station, you’re tucked behind rows of bushes, hidden away from the public’s eye save for the CCTV. I definitely recommend coming here with at least several in your party towards the evening. Otherwise, find another means of transportation if you prefer feeling safer.
